If this is new I would take it back, having said that, check all fluids and make sure you have fresh gas. Make sure oil level isn't overfull.

Instruction please as to how to reset the electric motor

Sounds like you need a new one. A smoking electric motor is usually fried.
Those electric mowers do not last a long time as they are under a lot of stress when cutting tall and wet grass.

White smoke would indicate a fuel problem. The engine is flooding.
There are a lot of possibilities but the first area I would check is the carburetor float level and inlet needle.

I would say that you have worn or cracked piston tings and perhaps in need of a new head gasket. After you have had it running for awhile and then shut it off for a short period and restart it does it smoke as much as it would after waiting for an hour? With any sort of luck maybe your engine has not seen much use and will straighten up.You might try some sea-foam in both the gas and crankcase to help clean up the engine. You can get this product at most auto parts store.I have been using it for thirty years in all my engines small and large and think it's an excellent product. Best of luck and thank you.

I have a 12.5 hp Briggs lawn trator that has a good spark, fuel, compression but will not start. I tried to use starter fluid with no luck. When engine cranks, carb intake has vacumn and some smoke comes...

Since the engine is newer, I presume it has an OHV train. The valves may need adjusting. Also, the engine may be out of time. A sheared flywheel key (not too hard to fix) may be the timing culprit there. Has the mower blades ever struck anything besides the usual yard growth?
Remove the engine's top cover and look down the slot in the side of the crankshaft alongside the flywheel for the key that holds it in place. If the slot in the flywheel isn't lined up with the slot in the crankshaft, then it is out of time and won't start. There are many tutorials and specification charts for Briggs OHV valve adjustment available. Post back as needed.

Sounds like you will need to clean your carburetor.
Sometimes you can get by with priming it a few times, and letting it
run a few times like that and it will flush the gunk out of the jets,
but most of the time you will need to rebuild the carburetor.
If the mower is over a couple years old, then I also recommend that you
buy and install a new carburetor repair kit, because the diaphragm will
get hard and that will cause it to be hard to crank.
When you clean your carburetor and remove the jet screws, count the
number of turns it takes to seat the jets from their original position.
That way when you go to put the jets back in, you know how many turns
they were in/out.
Please do not forget to rate me, Thanks
Good Luck, I hope this helps

My weedeater 500 will start but wont hold

It sounds like your carburetor is gummed up and needs to be cleaned and rebuilt. Most

carburetors can be cleaned and rebuild but most owners will not

have the proper equipment to do a thorough job. Take it to a good

servicing dealer for his advice and estimate. Sometimes there is a

gasket or a valve problem and a good experience mechanic can

tell a lot by just listening to the engine for a few seconds.

Engine bogs big puffs of white smoke from front

the engine will bog because the cutting blades are either cutting to much grass or the blades are touching the ground making it hard to keep rpm's then it will smoke a bit

White Smoke comming out of Briggs and Stratton 21 HP V2 engine.

The white smoke may have been caused by having water in the fuel, or fuel tank [due to condensation or exposure to rain and snow]. It may have been that the mower got tipped for cleaning purposes, blade inspection, etc. and oil from the low lying oil pan got into the piston.

Either way, I recommend installing a brand new spark plug and new gasoline [you can purchase a little gas siphoning hose for a dollar or so at any auto parts store] If you have gasoline left over in a can from last year it is safe to use it in your car as it mixes with lots of new gas, but not in your small mower tank as it is basically outdated fuel.
