When I enter an address or choose one from address book or a POI, it gives the direction alerts late or not at all. Even POI that I have saved, it does not map directions to that area well and the same problems listed above occur. How can I re-calibrate or reset the system.

connect your gps to computer and look at the files in the poi folder. they should be gpx files. When poi loader does its thing it converts the csv files to gpx maybe something didn't work the last time you loaded files.

The possible cause of this could be your alert setting. Your alert setting may be set on TONE. When this setting is activated, a ringing sound will be played on your radio for 5 minutes or until any button other than the Weather/Snooze button, on your radio is pressed. If this is the cause to your problem, you need to change your alert type setting. Here are the steps to doing this task...
Press the MENU button.
Use the directional up button until "ALT TYPE" is showing on your screen.
Using the directional up or down buttons, choose DISPLAY or VOICE.
When this is done, press SELECT.
Press the directional up button until "ALT TEST" is shown on the screen.
Test your alert type to find out if you'd prefer this setting.
If this setting is preferred,press SELECT and MENU to exit. If you prefer to choose another setting, press MENU, then the directional down button until "ALT TYPE" is showing on your screen. Repeat steps 3 through 8.

This has nothing to do with the codes you put in for your county. This has to do was the type of alert setting that is programmed into the radio. The alert setting that you have programmed into the radio is probably that TONE alert type. When this is selected, the alert will sound for 5 minutes or until any button is pressed except for the Weather/Snooze button. If you want your alert type settings changed, press MENU and use the up and down directional buttons until "ALT TYPE" is displayed on the screen. Use those same directional buttons to choose the alert type of your choice. If you choose DISPLAY, a text alert will scroll on your screen and no audio alert type will be sounded. If VOICE is selected, an alert will be sounded 8 seconds and you will hear the voice of the weather broadcaster for 5 minutes. These are the only other alert types you can choose other than TONE. Once you have chosen your alert type, press SELECT and and press MENU to exit. Remember that the NWS will only alert you if the storm meets their serve weather criteria (meaning the storm has to be able to cause a certain amount of damage or life threatening to "Wake someone up in the middle of the night"). With this radio functioning properly, it can really help you out in the long run by alerting you with the lastest information of what's going on in your area. menu/settings/phone profiles, select profile, then choose options at the low left corner of display. Here, you can adjust type of sounds you want and its loudness. Navigate to the right with your central button and here you are navigating downwards: 1. - message alert type chooser, 2. - message alert tone, 3. - message alert repetition, 4. - email alert type, 5. - email alert tone, email alert repetition, and finaly, 6. - alert tone volume. To enter into the submenu, first click direct the central button, and then choose the volume with left or right part of your central button. I am not a perfect english speaker, therefore I hope I was clear enough making this explanation.

Then select “activate” and click “OK” to confirm. Your phone will give an “activated” prompt, indicating that the user profile is active. The “headset” mode does not require activation; your phone will automatically switch to the “headset” mode if a headset is connected to your phone, and back to the previous mode when unplugged. You can also customize each user profile setting for your preference, the following operations are available: (1) Ring tone settings: Incoming calls: Enter “user profile”, select “personal setting”, and set up the ring tone. Power on: set up the music for power on. Power off: set up the music for power off. Message: set up the message ring tone when a new message arrives. You can also download ring tones online. (2) Volume This allows you to set up the volume for ring tones and keypad tones. There are 7 grades available. Enter this function and use the up/down key for testing and adjusting. (3) Alert type This is used to set up the alert type for incoming calls. Please select the suitable alert types in different situations.
