Question about Lexmark JetPrinter X1185 All-In-One InkJet
I installed a new color cartridge, but my printer does not acknowledge that there is any color ink. I will still print in color, but doesn't look right.
I have the same model, and i love it. I know this sounds dumb, but if this is your first refil, did you remove the plastic orange protection tape on cartridge. I know people who forget to do this. If this does not apply....I think your printheads may be clogged with built up ink. You need to manually clean the printhead for colour ink. Use proper cleaning solution and cotton buds, remove colour cartridge, and lay it sideways on paper towel to avoid ink spillage. Now clean down where cartridge sits, until no colour comes out anymore, clean where the cartridge gold part touches the back, but not with solution but with an unscented baby wipe! Now, let it air dry, pick up cartridge careful not to put you fingers on any gold part as oils in our fingers contaminate it. fold a baby wipe in a square, and place ink face on cartridge firmly on it for a few moments. Move it away and you should have 3 little joined boxes of each colour in a neat vertical line. Clear and bright colour, This says cartridge is fine. Replace it as usual. Remeber to reset your ink levels and run alignment if you like. Print a test page to see if it is normal now.

If that doesn't help, the problem could be due to a clogged print
cartridge nozzle. Please follow the steps below to fix print quality issues
with your model:
From the Maintenance tab, select Clean to fix horizontal streaks.
Your printer will then print a page forcing ink through to clean the print
After printing the test page, try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.
