Question about Sony Vaio White Pcg-71913l 15" Intel Core Tmi3 2.20ghz 4gb 600 Gb Hdmi Led R
For about eleven months now, the screen on this laptop has been cracked via a foolish unguarded impact with the concrete below it. I can use external display when booted in windows, but nowhere can I find a guide to operate the BIOS blindly at least to the extent that I may set the laptop for external display even during POST, be it VGA or HDMI. Any assistance on the matter would be very much appreciated - this would be the last computer I migrate to BSD / archLinux / Debian (while keeping the windows partition) Thank you very much!
Have you tried holding Fn key and pressing one of the function keys with picture of display on it?

SOURCE: BIOS PASSWORD
Remove the Batteray, does not reset the bios password and setting on Toshiba A105 Notebook, don't try to do this, you will have difficulties in puting the notebook back together. Believe me, I've tried!

SOURCE: Vaio VGN-S460 won't boot
Maybe simply buy another SATA HDD to replaced faulty one, which you said it came with "clicking noises".
you also can try hold tee 'C" or "F12" when you power on the laptop to get from DVD booting.

hi check out this solution and let me know
To resolve this issue, start the computer from the Windows XP CD, start the Recovery Console, and then use the Bootcfg.exe tool to rebuild the Boot.ini file. To do this, follow these steps:
Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All)
Note The instructions that appear on your screen may be different, depending on the configuration of your computer.
