SOURCE: How to change the battery in my SCO5RVA smoke and

Not obvious, and th emanual is not too precise about this as you probably know.

What I did on mine: take it off its bracket, flip it over bottoms up. You will see a part of the "rim" curving slightly out, that's the battery cover lid.

It is a very tight fit; to make things relatively easy, rotate the unit with the bottom still facing up until the curved part is on the right of the unit. Make sure there is no (red, if I remember correctly) peg locking the compartment closed, then insert your right thumb in there, and pull out. The battery compartment will eventually slide out part of the way. Remove the battery by pushing them out from below the battery compartment; they are on two separate blades that can be used to push them out.

SOURCE: smoke detectors keep saying low

Occasionally these units can malfunction due to a buildup of dust inside which can interfere with the smoke sensor. Try opening the cover to the smoke alarm and vacuuming out the dust, or better yet, get yourself one of those cans of compressed air that are used for cleaning computer keyboards and thoroughly blow out all the dust.

Just to be certain, you can always test the new battery with a voltmeter to ensure it is in good condition before you put it in the detector. If you buy the really cheap brands of batteries, you will sometimes get one that is dead right out of the package.

Once you have inserted a good battery, try activating the smoke alarm using the TEST button.

If the smoke alarm continues to beep unnecessarily, then it is likely an internal fault and it's simply time to replace the unit with a brand new one.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any details to add, have any questions, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

One beep constantly on smoke and CO unit. says battery low but the system is wired into house panel. Help!

Most new smoke detectors work off of two power sources, electric and battery backup. The battery is used to power the detector if primary electrical AC power is lost. It would be a good idea to replace all detector batteries every two years or so. You'll access the battery by opening the unit, find out the type used and then purchase a replacement at your local store. Hope this helps.

Kidde smoke alarm won't stop chirping . I have replaced the batteries and nothing seems to fix the problem

Most smoke detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-10 years. On the underside of the detectors should be a sticker with installed dated or replace by date. If changing the batteries doesn't stop the chirping it is most like time to replace the detector. If you check the manufacturer website they will give you a life expectancy for your detector.

Kiddie fire alarm model I12060, beeps once every

This happened to me, my smoke detector started chipping so I changed the batteries. A few seconds later it started chirping again. The answer is in the way you put the batteries in. The smoke detector allows you to put the batteries in wrong and makes a slight connector. This slight connector tricks the detector into thinking the batteries are weak. Simply turn the batteries around so the fat connector of the battery touches the skinny connector of the device. Mine was, fat side on the right.
