Recorder not recognizing blank media

When I put a blank cd/r or cdrw into the cdr deck, I keep getting an "invalid media - Please Insert Media with CD Digital Audio Recordable". Anyone else having this problem and how do I fix it?

My machine worked fine with Memorex CDR Music disks at first, then it started rejecting them.  I called KLH and they said it was sometimes brand specific, suggested Fuji or Sony.   I made about 3 recordings with Fuji, then it rejected those blanks .  Made a few more on SONY, but now it rejects those too.  Guy at Best Buy (where I bought it) suggested I get a $12  laser lens cleaner disk.  No help, still rejects my SONY disks.  What a piece of junk!!

This was going to be my solution for recording my LP's, now I'm stuck back at go. What else can I try?

I was able to find 10 of the blank CDs needed for digital audio/music recordings. They are no longer being manufactured. I had to buy around 50 blank CDs from people who had old ones and landed up with about 10 that will work. If you need a coulple I can help you out.

Digital Audio CD-Rs are made specifically for home audio cd recording systems. Most home audio systems have "standalone" CD recorders, not attached to a computer, and they require a CD-R that is made specifically for Digital Audio recorders. Some manufacturers also call them Music Only CD-R or Audio CD-R. These CD-Rs are Digital Audio recorders approved and will work in standalone CD recorders. A Digital Audio CD-R uses a SCMS copy-protection flag in the sub-code section of the CD-R. SCMS is the acronym for Serial Copy Management System. Home audio standalone CD recorders are designed to look for the SCMS flag in the sub-code section before allowing the unit to record. If there is no SCMS flag the recorder will not allow recording and the CD-R will be rejected. If a CD-R is labeled Digital Audio CD-R it has the SCMS flag and will therefore work in standalone home audio CD recorders

You can only use digital audio cd's. make sure the blank cds have the compact disc digital audio logo stamp on the right corner.

I've a KLH CDR-2000 dual CD recorder. Why is deck A not recognizing any CD's and also shows on display, Invalid/no CD in deck, with every new & clean CD's?

Deck A is the one the most and the optics get dirty. Buy an optics cleaning CD, which have small bristles. If that doesn't fix it, you need a Service Centre.

Will not burn a CD

Have you checked which CDR media the device can use.
This may be as simple as using a CD-R rather than a CD+R or vice versa,
Also check if you may be burning to a CDRW or CDR.

What type of disc do you need to record, I bought DVD+RDL but it keeps ejecting

What are you trying to record on.First you need a recorder. You cannot just put a cd or dvd in a player to record. They are play back only. Now what media are you putting in your recorder. If it is a cdr it will not record on dvd. What you said is you are using a dvd+rdl which is a dvd+ media with double layer (meaning 9.4 gig instead of 4.7 data).Any dvd recorder can handle the dl media.Look on the facinfg of the carriage and it will tell tell you the media intened to be used. cdr/cdrw or dvd/dvd-dl.Hope this helps

I have a philips audio recorder cdr 760 When i try to record cd rw a blank audio tdk cd the machine said OPC FAIL What I have to do to record the cd rw on my Philips cdr 760 Thanks for your...

There are a lot of forums which discuss OPC failure and it strikes every hardware maker and brand of media.

The bottom line is that certain media and certain writers just don't get along.

The manual:

"I don't buy expensive blanks. I buy modest quality blanks and watch
for sales so that I can them for about a dime a piece after the rebate
check comes in. If I have an OPC Fail message, I try another blank. If
I find that they consistently fail (about half a buck wasted) I move
the stack over to the computer (which seems to work fine with these)
and buy another stack of blanks of a different brand next time I see a
good price..."

an interesting workaround:

http://www.sweetwater.com/forums/showthread.php?10128-Tascam-CD-RW5000

"CDRW 5000 work around for OPC FAIL
Here's a work around for OPC FAIL on cdrw 5000 -

method 1: turn unit on at least 30 minutes or more before use (this seems to work best for me)

method 2: run OPC on an old cd that always works - after OPC passes, remove old cd and insert new CD (you only get 99 OPC runs per disc)

-or use a combination of the two methods

I've always used TDK and I recently bought a new batch and they stopped working. The old ones still work everytime. I don't know enough about the system to guess what the difference is.

side note: CDRW 2000 will finalise discs from the cdrw 5000 but not the other way around.

Hope that helps "

My cd recorder wont read blank cds help me please

Do as it asks, insert blank CD-Audio or CD-Music media.

Discs for recording
For recording, make sure to use special audio discs only.
These discs are marked with “Digital Audio” and the logos shown below.
There are two different types of audio discs for the use on this CD recorder:
– CD-Audio Recordable (CDR) discs
These discs can be recorded on once and
play in all standard CD players and CD
recorders, when they are finalized.
– CD-Audio ReWritable (CDRW) discs
These discs can be recorded on, erased and
re-recorded many times and play in CDRW
compatible CD players and CD recorders,
when they are finalized.
– All Philips CD players and CD recorders
with the sticker shown here are CDRW
compatible.
To ensure proper working of the set we recommend the use of Philips audio CDR and audio CDRW discs only.
Note: Do not use a computer CDR or CDRW as recording will not work!

Go here and download the manual. You'll need it.

Deck A will not play/Deck B OK

Sounds like the CDR deck has an issue. When the disc comes out has it's position changed i.e has it been spun at all? Can you hear any motors moving? Does it work with any type of disc ( cd/cdr/cdrw)?

RCA CD recorder/player CDRW120

You sure it's recognizing the CDR? And you are using 'consumer audio' cdr? Watch it at all times. If it 'opc fails' after you put a blank in it still shows as a CDR and 0:00 on the display but won't record. It's easy to miss.

Problem with Sony RCD-W1 CD recorder

'No audio' comes up when you use the wrong type of cdr in the drive. You need a 'consumer audio' or 'music' specific CDR and not a generic computer cdr to use in these units.
