Typing Problems Everytime I try to type a word with the letter L, the letter comes out twice. For example, a regular sentence such as "I like lollipops" actually comes out like this without editing, "I llike lolllipops." I noticed that even if I gently place my finger over the L key without pressing it hard, it will appear on the screen.

Laptop keyboard does not type inline. It types the correct letters anywhere on an email and web page (where typing is required), any place it wants, not after the last letter typed to make a sentence.

I've had this happen to me when I drag a thumb across the touchpad. Watch where the cursor is while typing and see if it moved because of inadvertent swipes on the pad. For me, the typing cursor looks like a pipe character ' If that's not what you mean, please clarify.
If it's the touchpad swipes causing the problem, you can adjust the sensitivity in the control panel. In addition, you can attend Ms Bilby's typing class and keep you wrists high or get a scolding ;)
Thanks

Daughter borrowed phone and switched the text msg typing to auto fill and numbers. I have tried every thing and I can't figure it out, can you please help me? Thank you, Susan

Based on your description, what you are referring to is called T9 Predictive Texting. It allows words to be entered by a single keypress for each letter, as opposed to the multi-tap approach used in the older generation of mobile phones in which several letters are associated with each key, and selecting one letter often requires multiple keypresses. Example, when typing the word 'love' in a T9 activated phone, all you have to do is press the numbers 5, 6, 8 and 3 once in sequence. As compared to the regular texting, in order to complete the word 'love', you have to press the number 5 thrice, the number 6 thrice, the number 8 thrice, and the number 3 twice.
If you want to disable T9 predictive texting, it can usually be disabled by pressing and holding the hash or number key (#).
Hope this information is helpful.

What does the insert key do?

Press and the text you type will over write what ever you have on the screen. This is typically used in most applications to "type over" existing text without moving the other letters/numbers/characters around.

This is my example of how the insert key works.
hit the insert key and position your cursor at the "w" in works.
Now type WOW!!.
You should now have:
This is my example of how the insert key WOW!!.

Clever these programmers. :)

Keep in mind it depends on the application you are running also.
Have fun!

Typing and keyboard issues

If you're using a laptop, it sounds like the trackpad is too sensitive, so that as you type, when your thumbs touch the pad, the cursor moves.  You can adjust this easily in settings/preferences.

Letter writting problems

Do you use a laptop or some sort of keyboard with a mouse pad? My son used to have that problem when he would type as his thumb would accidentally hit the mouse pad and move the cursor. We solved it in a very low tech way by taping a notecard over the mouse pad when he was using the computer. Depending on the manufacurer, there are ways to turn off the mouse pad while continuing to use a mouse.
