Question about Canon ZR830 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
When I plug my ZR830 into the board on my computer, the screen flashes DV-IN, but cannot make a connection. I have tried 3 different computers and 2 cables.

Use a DV cable to connect the camcorder to the computer.
Determine whether your computer has a 4-pin or a 6-pin DV terminal. Use an appropriate, commercially available DV cable for your computer's DV terminal.

Pinnacle software will recognize the camera installed through a firewire cable once the camera is turned on. Windows movies software doesn't recognize DV cameras. You may be able to get capture to work if you go to Microsoft.com and download the Windows Media 9.0 Development Kit. I believe DV input is a capture option.
There has to be a 3rd party program installed to get it to recognize it.

make sure you are using 4 pin to 4pin firewire which looks like this:
Switch on the Cam.
Open Windows Movie Maker and import video from device.
