a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: DVD write fails
I got the same problem. The mac internal drive is very choosy about types of disks. Options are - try splashing out a bit more on disks or as LeonAzul suggests go for an external burner. I bought a big batch of cheap discs which only work with an external burner. More expensive jobs are fine with the internal one.

The problem should be in the mother board, i recomend take the machine to any apple service store , they have all the software and hardware needed to find the problem, if you paid for the machine the old owner must have the information about the machine ( i mean maybe he must to know the begin of the problem ) if you understand the bassic logic of the repair, you should know that if the machine still show the problem when the drive is not present is one or another answer
1 - the mother board is damaged.
2- the drivers of the dvd reader are corrupted.
Dont broke your mind , take it to the apple service i'm 100% sure that the machine can be fixed with the right hands.
