It's difficult to diagnose 'Out of dye film' errors on the Rio 1 printers.
Does your serial number end with NP?
Can you hear the dye film motor running when the lid is closed?
Is the film actually moving? Try marking the rear (full) spool with a pen then closing the lid.
After the error, open the lid to see if it has moved.
While the lid is open, can you see a bright Red LED shining from just below the printhead?
Check that none of the dye film clips are broken.
Open the lid and remove the dye film spools.
Try to turn the small White cog just above the front-left dye film clip.
You should not be able to turn this (due to the gearbox on the motor).
If it turns then you will need to tighten the small grub screw which attaches the gog to the motor shaft.
I hope some of the above suggestions will be of help.
