This player has an issue that the latest firmware fixes, re: constant freezing during updating. If you can just get the computer to recognize the player, and load the firmware update then you should be fine. The firmware update should load when you go to the "Update" button on the latest Device Manager (the version of the Device Manager from Philips' website, not from the install CD).
If the computer is not recognizing the player, then try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Hello, if your Go gear is getting stuck at updating do the following, connect your mp3 player to a computer, and go into the drive, which is called philips or which ever name you gave it, and remove your photo folder save it to your desktop or just delete it and unplug it, then try to boot it, if that doesnt work then to the same step except delete the music folder as well.
