Where is the fuel pump reset switch on a 1999 ford explorer. it will crank with starter fluid but will not stay running not getting any gas

I doubt it is the switch. Hit the bottom of the tank about where the pump sets. A rubber mallet works great. 3 or 4 good blows. I bet your truck starts. Replace the pump.

I have a 96 ford explorer v6 with a pushrod motor and after we replaced the pushrods, the head gaskets, the valve cover gaskets and the fuses, the car will not idle. what could be the problem?

Have you adjusted the pushrods properly? Pushrods generally need to be adjusted after installation.

Not sure how to do this on this model, although I own a 94 Ford Explorer with the V6 4.0 Liter motor.

Basically, when a gas engine doesn't run, you check 4 things, and narrow it down from there.

1. Gas (Is gas pressure good, is gas flow strong enough?)
2. Spark (are all spark plugs firing properly? Is spark strong enough)
3. Combustion at each cylinder (timing, pushrod adjustment)
4. Air Flow (MAF/MAP sensor working? Air Filter dirty?)

After Cranking My Explorer it turns right off.

It sounds like you may have a dirty or defective IAC (Idle air control) motor or a vacumn leak. I am assuming that you have a 4.0 liter V6. These engines have some vacumn line on the intake that is bad about developing leaks over time and have to be replaced. Should'nt be an exspensive fix.

Understanding codes

Both banks are running lean meaning they are getting too much air and not enough fuel.
To start I'd try an expensive can of fuel cleaner which may just clean up your system enough to clear the codes.
If carbon has built up or fuel is low and gunk is entering the system, this could be the problem especially if you run your gas tank to near low a lot and if you rarely use a fuel cleaner.

Dies when drive

My 99 Explorer would not run unless you held the pedal to the floor. Found out ford has a recall on their intake gaskets. If you see what the intake gaskets look like you'll wonder how the motor runs at all. I had that prob for 50,000 miles and I changed those gaskets and now it runs like a new ford.

The a/chas a cutoff for full throttle aceleration so that's why it cuts out on step grades. Let of the gas just a little to get it to stay on.

Alot of time when you run a fuel injector cleaner or just give it a basic tune up will fix this problem it usually means that there isnt enough gas getting to the pistons....
