The back of the motor is going to get a little more than warm , if you run it wide open for a long period of time. This is normal !!

SOURCE: FRIGIDAIRE FRS20ZRGD7 (SIDE BY SIDE) WARM FRIDGE/ COLD FREEZER HELP!

look open the freezer door pull the lower kick plate off look for a small little hole there its a mechanical timer model should be close to the wheel in that hole will be a plastic piece open the freezer door you will hear the fan running in the freezer take out the four or five screws on the lower panel where you keep seeing the frost and remove it you will see a silver honeycomb looking piece that's the evaporator on one of the tubes will be clipped a silver dome looking piece with two wires on it that's the defrost thermostat now turn the timer with a screwdriver that's the piece in the little hole slowly to your right till you hear a click and the fan stops in the freezer now as your turning it it will make a ratchet sound you want the click and the fan to stop look at your watch and note the time then wait about 5 minutes and look at the heater to see if its on if its all frosted up the frosted should look all watery if the heater is on then just let it run if not then reach up and turn the freezer control to the off position then un plug the two wires on the defrost thermostat and take the two wires that you unplugged the thermostat from and plug them back together and turn the freezer control back on and wait stay there and watch the heater come on let it defrost the evaporator if the heater comes on when you do that .that means the thermostat is bad if the heater comes on without you having to by pass it that means the timer is bad if you do all that and the heater does not come on then the heater element is bad now its going to get red like an oven and pop and sizzle but don't let it freak you out now if you had to by pass the thermostat and the timer cuts the compressor on before the frost is all clear just turn the timer around again till the fan cuts off and the heater will come back on if you by passed the thermostat then when all the frost is melted then reach up and turn the freezer control back off and reconnect the thermostat. Now after about 30 mins after turning it off the timer should cut back on if its not bad when you change the timer back out the two screws reach under the fridge and turn the timer and its shield till the screws are in the removal position when the timer is loose remove the shield and unplug the timer plug your new one back in then put the shield back on and back where it goes now id recommend changing both the timer and the thermostat as they fail pretty close together the stuff i described above is to make the unit defrost to save your food with out having to use your hair dryer also when all the frost is melted at he bottom of the evaporator on the right hand side is a hole in the cabinet that has to be clear of frost for the fridge to cool properly now any time during this defrost technique if you have a problem turning off the freezer cold control will turn off the defrost system1.gif too if i can be of help or you need to know something just reply to this post

SOURCE: Fan running,both cold settings at 4 , freezer 14 degrees C

you need to replace the start components on the compressor, theres a relay that mounts on to the compressor that takes out the start winding after it starts the compressor up. You can also try whats called a three in one to try to start up the unit. Good Luck.

Yes, this is the fan problem. Easy fix with either new fan blade ($2.95) or new motor and fan ($35) from partstore. Call them if you're not certain about what part. Good company.

My ac will not blow alot of air through the vents, although it can be heard like it is pretty high or max.

Sounds like the vent selector is not switching it all the way to the vents. Its probally getting stuck on the floor output or defrost. Is it digital are cable driven? Try turning the fan speed to the lowest setting, switch it to defrost, then back to vent and turn the fan back up to hi.

I noticed an unusual high pitch sound which I traced back to the refrigerator. I then noticed that the front panel lights were flickering on and off and so was the external ice maker lid. I turned the...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. First off the high pitched sound you heard was most likely ice build up on the evaporator so th evaporator fan blades were striking the ice. Now as for your shutting of the unit and staring right back up..... You need to wait 15 - 20 minutes of OFF time when ever there is a power interruption. What is happening now is that the compressor can not restart because the coolant pressures are to high. That 15 - 20 mins of off time will afford that pressure stabilization time.

What you really need to do is remove the freezer contents and place a fan blowing into the freezer compartment to manually defrost the freezer evaporator. (about 2 hours of floor fan time) This should get rid of the high pitched noise. Then.... restart the unit. It should restart.

I suspect that you have an automatic defrost problem is why you had the noise. The manual defrost will only get you 2 - 3 days of normal operation again before it once again starts the icing routine. I want to get this off now to get you started on the manual defrost. I will respond with a 2nd post about the defrost problem.

Your to do list...
1. unplug the unit.
2. Manual defrost with floor fan (2 hours of fan and water mess)
3. Restart the unit
4. Watch for next post about defrost.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.
Kelly

Pretty much the same problem

I have the same system. I have a Lifestyle and a Sony TV with a Samsung Blueray player. I also have an X-box 360, plus my pc with all my CDs (I-tunes) plays through my bose. Do this:

1. Use the optical cable for the blueray player to the Bose (AUX).
2. Use a digital audio cable from the cable box (either black or orange output) to the Bose CBL-SAT digital input. (it's a single audio cable)
3. For my PC, I'm using a digital cable from the pc to the Bose. I'm using the TV output because it's empty.
4. For my x-box (which I'm not too happy about) I'm using regular red-white audio cables from Bose TV input directly to the TV audio out. (You can play all of the above through this channel, but don't).

I figured the most important high quality sound should come from the blueray player and from watching regular cable tv. For picture, you should be using all HDMI connections.

Hope this helps.

How do you clean Patton Floor fan?

The grill is in two halves with the back half attached to the motor. The front with the round patton insignia removes easily by applying leverage with a screwdriver. There are eight spots (at least on mine) where it clips. Be sure to remove any disposable plastic fastener holding the two halves together. Its pretty easy.
