Warm air circulating inside the freezer and refrigrator

Hi Two nights ago when I opened the refrigrator and freezer in the garage I noticed that inside the is warm. In addtion everything had melted and there was water in the tray under the refrigerator. When the fan spins I feel a warm air entering to both sides. I cleaned the condensor and the grille from the front. I opend the back lower portion of the refrigerator and cleaned it as much as I could. It looks like the compersor is working so is the fan. I do not know why warm air comming inside and is not cooling either side. I plugged back the refrigerator after I cleaned it until next morning to see if I solved the issue. But I felt warm air comming from the vent. Any suggestions would be appriciated. Thanks Shervin

SOURCE: Kenmore 253.54622406 Problem

I have had the experience of Moisture in the refrigeration system with some of this brand. If this is your problem it will require a refrigeration tech to recover the charge from the system, change the system drier, evacuate the system to remove air and moisture, then recharge the system with the proper refrigerant.
If your refrigerator is covered by warranty your cost should be minimal. If it is not covered by warranty it can be somewhat expensive. If it is a problem with the defrost system you will see frost build-up on the back freezer wall.

SOURCE: Refrigerator/freezer not working

remove the bottom panel on back of fridge. locate the compressor( round black object with copper tubing coming out of it. check where the wiring plugs into it and you will probably see a white plastic box attached to the compressor.this part can be pried off with a screwdriver and if it is white this is your problem. whirlpool had a defect in this relay and they go out quite frequently

SOURCE: Freezer works Refrigerator will not cool down

The compressor should be OK this time because you caught it in time. But if the condenser fan stops you need to consider replacing the fan. I have had refrigerators do fine until the fan motor warms up and you are away, it stops. Don't think you should use the refrigerator until the fan is fixed. Sea Breeze

From the sound of it I would looking at the evaporator fan in the freezer. This is what circulates air and actually cools the refrigerator as well as the freezer

Hello! Help the fridge side is not cooling ( warm)the freezer is fine???

Hi patsilke,

This complaint is usually the result of a defrost problem. The first thing to check in this case is the freezer area. Look at the back panel inside the freezer. If you notice frost covering the back panel, you have defrost problem. What happens when you have a malfunction in the defrost system is the air cannot circulate from the freezer to the fresh food section. Also, excess frost builds up within the coils inside the freezer. This is what is blocking the air flow to the fresh food section.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Westinghouse fridge: no cool air circulating inside

Art, I need to get a little more information from you. Does the condenser fan under the refrigerator seem to work and blowing warm air from below and or behind the refrigerator? The motor feeling warm is OK. Only when too hot to touch on top. Needs to cycle also. When you opened the freezer did you hear the fan blowing? Thanks, JT

Warm on inside edges of front refrigerator doors, not very cold inside....and freezer is hard as rock. Setting on freezer is 3 and refrigerator was 3, but now we've turned up to 6. Definitely not normal....

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer--it could be that there is ice build-up restricting air flow from the freezer. See if you can see any ice there...Is it possible to defrost the whole unit for several hours (even over night)?

Cold freezer warm fridge.

That sound was the evaporator fan motor in the freezer. This circulates the cold air from the freezer into the fresh food section. If this is not running you need to check for power to it. If the fan has power to it but not running, replace it. It should be located behind freezers back wall inside of freezer near top.
