Cleaned machine, it works now, but bobbin winder won't run

In my limited experience the main reason a bobbin winder won't work is because either the mechanism is stiff or being fouled in some way preventing engagement of the rubber wheel with the flywheel or the rubber tyre is excessively worn.

The bobbin on my kenmore sewing machine model 158.15720 won't spin to wind the bobbin. I oiled it but it didn't help. The belt is a little loose. Could replacing it help?

most machines will have a rubber o ring as part of the bobbin winding mechanism, when you engage the bobbin winder, this o-ring will move over against the main engine drive wheel and this then makes the bobbin spindle turn. So yes, you may need to replace the rubber o-ring, they can perish and wear. Called Bobbin Winder Tyre, you could try www.sewingpartsonline.com, they have loads of Kenmore models listed but can't see yours. However, if you email them, they should be able to advise what part number it is. If you start by opening up the machine case and take a look at the bobbin winder area first, you may find this rubber has split or perished.

My machine will not thread any bobbins.

Your bobbin winder has seized. Remove the top cover and oil the area where the bobbin winder shaft goes through the bobbin winder assembly. You might need to force the winder to turn with your fingers for a while, but it will begin to turn smoothly once the oil gets in there.

If the black bobbin winder tire has a flat spot worn into it, you will need a new bobbin winder tire. Costs around a dollar.

Bobbin winder stopped working

Either the winder rubber has worn down, or there may be some residue on the winder rubber, ot the winder may have seized through lack of oil which is quite common in that case it will need to be replaced

Kenmore sewing machine (new) - bobbin threading post is not spinning to thread the bobbin - any solution?

If the bobbin winder is not turning after pushing it on it will either be that there is some oily rsidue on the winder rubber, the winder rubber is worn on one side although if the machine is new it is very unlikely, the winder rubber is not connecting with the balance wheel which means an adjustment and that will mean getting inside the machine which is not easy.

My bobbin will not keep winding new thread on the spool. I believe the little wheel inside the machine is worn can this happen

Yes, the bobbin winder rubber is designed to wear out so it can be replaced for a few dollars rather than $50. Take the top cover off and see if you can work out how to remove it, take it to a sewing service centre as a sample, with the machine and model number and ask for a replacement.

Bobbin spindle won't spin

Check the bobbin winder rubber, it may be worn or broken and insufficient friction against handwheel to turn.........or a thread jam around spindle is stopping the spin. In this case, carefully unwind, DO NOT cut thread.

Problem with winding thread onto the bobbin (small free- arm Singer 100 sewing machine). Once bobbin winder shaft is pushed to the right nothing happens-bobbin rod does not start turning so I cannot wind...

first you must make sure the winder shaft is turning by moving it to the right a little and see if you can turn it by hand.
If it is turning ok then there is a rubber ring on the other end of the winder shaft and it should come in contact with the drive which turnes it ,if it is worn it might need a new rubber.
