Question about Directv Televison & Video
Sometimes my DVR skips (audio and picture) during live TV. It usually starts out very sporadic and then increases in frequency. The only solution that I've found is to completely power down the DVR, wait a few seconds, then power it up. The DVR then runs diagnostics and then works fine for a few months before I have to repeat the power down process. Any ideas on what's causing this?

With the DVR up and operating well I would lift up one corner about 1/2 inch and drop it to see if that causes it to malfunction. If it does, then you likely have one or more bad solder connections inside that need repair. If no change is noted, then it could possibly be defective capacitors or a voltage regulator going bad on you. There is also a possibility that it could be a worn recepticle the unit is plugged into, as a power interruption may be all it needs to reboot.

Go through the process of setting up the remote again instead of trying the volume first use the power off button. In my experience, Sony receivers can be picky and power cycling "will" insure the code set, then try the volume.
