may be a compatible rather than origial part, this is a common message on inkjet printers too, happens because an on board chip cannot read a chip on the cassette / tank being used
The problem is not the parts but the communication between the parts and the computer. I would have the computer reflash and then drive the vehicle for a extended amount of time. This should fix the problem.

49 Indicates that a firmware error occurred that caused the processor on the formatter to abort an operation. This type of error can be caused by invalid print commands, corrupt data, or invalid operations. In some cases, electrical noise in the cable can corrupt data during transmission to the printer. Other causes include poor quality parallel cables, poor connections, or home-grown applications. On some occasions, the formatter is at fault, but this is usually indicated by a 79 Service Error.
I see you state a 49FFF? any other letters or digits displayed? Specifically 49 FFFF can be a problem if the ribbon cable from the DC controller to the interconnector board is not connected. The control panel display will also be dark.
Other 49 FFx errors can be:
NEC firmware chip error - replace the Firmware Unsupported EDO Memory installed - Remove unsupported RAM Fuser life test error during Boot cycle - Replace the Formatter A Large print Job (>800 pages) or complex graphics can cause the device to quit printing. - Simplify the Print Job, lower DPI etc.,
Everytime I want to play an audio cd, it says format unsupported. This is happening very often. And I have also cleaned the cds,but still there is no difference. What is the solution?
Hi,Ive had this problem a few times with the 2300 series theres no easy answer to it if your getting an unsupported cartridge message or cartridge not recognised you either have an empty or a faulty cartridge,or a damaged contact on the printers ribbon where the cartridge mates to the printer.Bill.
