WHEN DRIVING UP HILL, TEMP GAGE ALMOST AT THE TOP.

If no hose leaks and engine coolant is fine in radiator. I would say its a faulty thermostat. A malfunctioning thermostat would result in temperature fluctuations throughout the operation of the engine. God-Bless!

Why did oil pressure change from 40 average to 60+ at start down to 30+ at idle, after new engine was put in?

An old engine will normally show a lower oil pressure, which may be due to worn bearing, a worn oil pump or both.

A new engine with good bearings will normally show a higher pressure at revs than at idle, and a higher pressure when cold. Putting a worn oil pump back in a new engine (never a good idea without a thorough checkup on it) will modify this situation.

Just going on the readings I'd say your situation now is quite normal. You may even be able to change to an oil one grade less viscous, say 10W instead of 20W depending on your winter temps.

2004 explorer 4.0 coolant reservoir boils over when stabolized at normal level, no heat when level drops temp indicator normal

go to autozone rent the free tool called a block tester buy the fluid for it (about $8.00 us)drive the car make sure the resivour is about 3 inches down so you dont suck any fluid into block tester. pour blue fluid into block tester put it in antifreeze resavour. squeeze bulb sucking air from resouivour for up to 2 minutes if fluid turns yellow your head gaskets are leaking. I think you may find this to be your problem

The word stop illuminates on the dashboard and the temperature gauge goes full scale deflection then everything returns to normal any ideas please and is it a big job to fix ?

IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BULB MONITOR MODULE IS GROUNDING OUT OR GETTING A CONNECTION TO GROUND THROUGH EITHER THE MODULE FROM GETTING WET POSSIBLY,OR FROM THE TEMP GAGE CIRCUIT CAUSING BOTH TO GET "FULL SIGNAL". TEMP GAGE AND "STOP" LIGHT WARNING ON THE DASH ARE BOTH TURNED ON OR FULL SWEEP OF GAGE WHEN WIRE TO IT IS GROUNDED OUT OR HAS CONTINUITY TO GROUND.

My car temp dosnt go up idk if the thermostats stuck shut or not??if how do i unstick it?

if the temp gage doesn`t go up you could have a gage problem or even a coolant sensor problem that works the gage only and not the one that sends a signal to the pcm to turn on the cooling fans and monitor the engine temperature,if it is the thermostat then it will be stuck open and the only way to correct the problem is to replace the thermostat other wise it can stick open again or closed causing the engine to overheat.

How do i know if its my thermostat going bad on my pontiac montana 1999

If you have a temp gage, it will read higher when car is warmed up. If you have a warning light, it would come on more often. Usually they fail suddenly and the car overheats. If you want to know more, please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5929960-s_thermostat . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

Heater in 02 Dodge 1500 truck

once the truck is fully warmed up, feel the 2 heater hoses going through the firewall in the engine compartment. they should be hot to the touch. if they are, then the problem is most likely the heater controls, such as the temp. switch on the dash or the blend door itself inside the dash. if they are cool, check that the coolant is completely full. just because the temp gauge reads normal doesn't mean there's enough coolant in the system to fill the heater core. remove the radiator cap once cooled and top off if needed. if it is, or was, low, its possible to get air the the cooling system and block flow of coolant to heater core.

What is the check gauges light

CHECK GAGES light (1) indicates a potential engine failure(low oil pressure, low coolant, coolant overheating) has occurred.
· Check gages and shut down engine. Gages should read as follows: Oil pressure 5 to 10 psi (34 to 69 kPa) at idle; Water Temp gage below 230 degrees (110 C).
· Check engine oil level (Para 2-11) if OIL PRESS gage indicates low reading. Check coolant level (Para 2-11) if Water Temp gage indicates high reading. Notify Unit Maintenance if levels are low.

If CHECK ENGINE light (2) is on, check engine oil pressure gage (3) and water temperature gage (4). If both indicate normal, proceed with mission and then notify Unit Maintenance. If either one does not indicate normal, stop engine immediately and notify Unit Maintenance

2002 Suzuki xl7 Mysterious Overheating Issue

Most Suzukis A/C systems will cut out when the engine tempurature is too high (to reduce the load on the engine). Also, in this condition, when the A/C compressor cuts out, the A/C thermo fan (electric - in front of the condensor) may come on ( to try and cool the engine). Combined with the fact that your temp gage says the engine is hot, I would be checking your cooling system very closely. It could be as simple as leaves blocking the air flow through the radiator (between the condensor and radiator), or as serious as the internal cores of the radiator being blocked (different sorts of coolant being used can sometimes produce solid matter that can do this).
