How do I know if the ir sensor is not working?

The sensor not working, is difficult to diagnose, but a remote can be checked with a digital camera. Not an iPhone, because it has a good IR filter. Point the camera lens to the remote and look on the camera display it the remote is flashing, when you press a button. This way you also can check if all buttons still work.

Why does my remote for my bose 535 only work at close range?

Batteries need replacing; dirty front lens stopping the IR signals; interference from another IR source; IR signals bouncing in multiple directions so confusing the sensor

Recently purchased Rokinon 500/1000mm for Nikon D3000 camera...it has a black covered filter in the center of the lens...does this come off or is it part of the lens. Also, do the other filters go in the...

This is a mirror lens. Light enters the leans, ir reflected back to the front of the lens by a mirror and is then reflected back to the sensor by another mirror(behind the black circle in middle of lens). DO NOT REMOVE OR TRY TO. To do so will rendeer lens useless.Filters screw on front of lens, like any other lens.

I have a Quantaray 70-300 f1:4-5.6 LDOMacro. I have been using it with Minolta QTsi Maxxum SLR. I am looking into getting a Digital SLR that I can use my lens with. Is there one out there.

here is a link to an ebay search for minolta to canon eos adapter, they sell for just about every camera. i know it sucks, buying a new camera that wont work with your favorite lens, but i think you might be better served focusing (couldnt help myself) on camera features and pricing. i own a canon dslr and love it. sigma has a cool dslr. it has a three layer image sensor, with a removable on sensor ir filter. the ir filter thing is really cool.

Nikon D40 SLR 6MP 18-55 Lens

I son't know how to turn a camera into an IR camera but I did find a website that shows you how to make a filter that allows you to take IR photos. You can make the filter yourself for free unless you don't have the items needed but then again the item needed are only a couple of dollars. Here is the link.

My Camera got wet and Now when I turn It on, The lens on the camera won't go all the way and pictures and videos becomes blury

whitout any more info to go on, I'd say take it to a camera repair place and have them clean it. most likely the sensor has dried mineral deposits on it, or the IR filter between the sensor and the lens has the deposits.

Want a camcorder that can take nightvision type of footage for paranormal research

If you are talking about Infa-Red, and are a little handy with small tools, you can convert a cheep used camcorder yourself.
All digital camers are senisitve to IR. In fact in order to get a good quality normal picture, they have to have a filter installed between the lens and the sensor just to get rid of it. go to:
www.metacafe.com They have instructions on how to DYI, or there is a list of places that will do it for you. One suggestion, get a camcorder that has the lowest light capibilities 1 LUX or .o3 lux. You will need to get a natural light filter to put on the front of the lens- if you can't follow the DIY on the website. It works...I did it myself..You may also want an IR light for the camera to cover large areas, but I believe using the same filter that's on the site would work as well. let me know

Setting to shoot black and white

No, you can reduce the saturation but not go mono, (in the parameters settings)
You will need to adjust the colour balance and convert to mono in photoshop (or similar)
There are quite a few articles on the web regarding shooting in IR with the rebel, best results can be obtained with a modification to the camera http://ghonis2.ho8.com/rebelmod.html (reversable by using a IR cut filter for non IR shots) as it contains quite a strong IR filter which means although it is possibler without modification exposures will be quite long with IR filters and focusing difficult as the auto wont work and you will be able to see very little trough the viewfinder once the IR filter is on.
Here are a few articles, they may not relate to your exact model but all the eos cameras are somewhat similar.

people who will mod the camera for you.
http://www.lifepixel.com/ (also sell replacement sensor filters)

Im sure there are many others.

Best of luck

Take for repair - The cost will be about half the price of a new camera assuming that parts can be found. Get the new camera.
