You have to connect the unit to your computer and use that to delete the .gpx file(s) in the /Garmin directory. You can not delete the files from the unit. If your .gpx file has unfound caches then your going to need to reload the .gpx file without the found caches.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I was trying to update my map on my nuvi 1350 and it said the internal memory was full. i tried to clear up some space and i ended up deleting some folders. I did back it all up, but now it won't let me...

The only files you should delete are unused voice files (.vpm), pictures files (.jpg), sum files (.sum) and you can delete the gupdate.gcd file as it is not used once the unit has been updated. You can also delete archived gpx files (.gpx) within the gpx archive folder but do not delete the current.gpx file (this file holds your favorites) or the gpx folder. Deleting folders is not recommended. That is a good way to delete files that you may need.

You can also right click on the Nuvi's drive letter and select "tools" and run an error check on the flash drive to make sure there aren't any errors on it that may involve how much space is really free.

Lastly, you may have to limit the map region, so that the map isn't too large. For example, instead of having US & Canada on the map, perhaps only have the US with the lower 49 states. You can limit it even further by selecting lower 49 states and selecting regions like Southwest (SW) or northwest (NW) etc.

f you really want to bypass the whole memory issue, just put the map on an external micro 4GB SD card. This way, you don't have to worry about deleting anything off of the flash drive.

I hope this info helps.

Garmin dakota 10 does not free up memory

Connect your dakota 10 to your computer ,double click on my computer or computer on deskstop and you will see garmin storage. And then double on garmin F .double click on garmin folder and if you want to delete gpx files click on gpx ,you can see current, archive and track log you've saved. Then you can delete tracklog you've saved .But some tracklog were automatically saved in archive folder ,double click folder and you can delete gpx file.In the same way if you double click on current folder you can see current gpx file and you can delete it.Like that you can delete image file in the same way.One important is you must not delete system files or folder.

My GPS has a warning sign that comes on when I turn it on saying 1000 GPX files loaded. Please consolidate additional files, I can't download any new caches I get can you tell me anything to fix it.

It sounds like the maximum number of GPX file types your GPS can manage is 1,000. You'll need to delete as many existing GPX files as there are new that you want to add, ie: If you want to add 150 new waypoints (a.k.a. Geocaches a.k.a. GPX files) you'll should delete 151 (or more) GPX files from the GPS. That way, you'll have 999 GPX files loaded - and won't see the message complaining of 1,000 GPX files.
Running with a minimal number of GPX files may allow your device to run faster - as it doesn't need to load and calculate distances for 1,000 GPX file points. Less can be more - if you don't do CITO, Webcam, Multis, etc. or any type that has a difficulty / terrain ratings greater than 2 or 3, don't even download them. It's just clutter for your GPS to track and manage.
Look at the filters to select the types you want - either on Geocaching.com or the software (GSAK?) you use assemble and prepare for loading them into your GPS.

plug it into the computer and double click My Computer (or just Computer on Vista) and double click the GPX device, double click the Storage, and now you should be able to see your individual music files. Simply click on them and hit the delete button or right click and select delete. The file will no longer be on your MP3 player.

Connect the device to your computer. Click MY COMPUTER on your desktop. You should see the device in the window that opens. Click on it. It should appear as GPX Device or the like. Double click on that, then Portable Memory will appear, double click, then double click the Music folder. The window will now display all the music files on your device. Choose which ones you no longer want and hit the delete button on your keyboard.

I bought an mp4 player branded GPX model ML648S and it just stopped letting me transfer music onto it with any microsoft. i need help, ive tried everything!

I suggest taking a small screwdriver or tip of a pen and holding down the RESET button on the back of the device. This should return the device to it's factory settings. Like getting a brand new MP3 player. Also make sure your memory is not full. You can delete files my opening up My Computer, then GPX device, then Portable Memory, Then Music and then delete songs you no longer wish to hear.

I cannot delete folders from my GPX they are apparently "Read Only" files...help!

You may try to delete your folders with Unlocker
If it doesn't you could try in dos (run cmd):
attrib -s -h -r "location" /s
(location being where the folder is located.)
This should remove any Systems file flag, read only flag or hidden file flag.
del /F "folders"
