After looking at an exploded view in an operators manual, I found on another site and reading the "how to replace" media section, no mention was made of anything that fastens the water jacket assembly to the media. The problem was calcification, due to Arizona's hard water that had literally superglued the water jacket to the media. Using a flat bar and some gentle persuassion, I was finally able to lift one side end of the water jacket and slowly work my way to the other side. As I suspected, the PVC water tube was almost totally clogged with calcified debri that had been sucked up by the water pump. As a preventative for this in the future, I fashioned a filter bag from a piece of nylon window screen and placed that under and around the pump section and tied it off just below the motor assembly. Hope this helps someone else. ts

Remove drain pipe from water pan. You can usually turn it counter clockwise. When drained, clean with fresh water and replace pipe buy placing pipe dope or teflon tape to avoid leaking.
