looks like convergence is off. Pic is good in middle of TV but red and green double images get worst the farther from middle you get. TV comes on normal but after about 2-5 min it clicks into this mode.

I get blotches on certain dark images... what is causing this

i have a toshiba 43 in (i believe) projection television model number TP43H60, serial number 79660512 and chassis number TAC, sometimes the picture is just fine, but then the top and bottom bow in, and it looks like i need 3d glasses, if i change the input (TV, Input 1, Input 2 etc...) it will fix it for a second, but does it again after a few minutes. (makes gaming really hard, and movie watching irritating...) i have tried to adjust the convergence, but sometimes, its like the target is out of range. i would like to know if this is a fixable problem, and if so, a estimate of cost...thanks a lot ;)

Picture bowing in with blue red or green offset is caused by loss
of convergence circuitry operation. If it simply offset, try to use
the convergence adjustment settings of the set. If you cannot get some of the settings for each color to move, it confirms a defect in
the circuitry. If it will move and you can line it up, there is nothing further to do.
The convergence chips need to be changed out by a tech and there may be resistors burned that need to be changed as well and sometimes there is a fuse to the convergence modules that needs replacing. Once these are changed the user convergence controls will get it closer than it was, but it may require getting into the factory provided service menu to do a more complete allignment.

Convergence is bad on left side...good on right.....where convergence is good the picture is great

Re-solder convergence output ICs pins and nearby big resistors that might solve your tv picture problem and if that does not help then replace both convergence output ICs to fix the problem.
Convergence output ICs would be available in local repair parts shop or google it.

Red vert lines will not convergenge(sides) blue and green o.k.

your convergence output amps are done...
you have to do repair on the convergence output circuit, and inspect
the power supply for any damages.

I see double pictures on top and bottom

Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

This sounds like convergence output IC problem. convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Blue cast to screen and words at the bottom of screen run does not seem aligned to grid. magic focus did not correct. Can align red and green manually but not blue.

50hx70 blue projection light is concaced at top and bottom of tv

When the convergence amplifier ICs go bad (STK392-xxx), they RARELY cause more than one color to go out. The fact that the top and bottom of the picture are effected indicates the vertical convergence IC. Replace both, and while you're in there check the bias resistors... it is likely one of these is open. Once the ICs have been replaced (as well as any open resistors), customer convergence followed up with the auto convergence should do the trick.

Convergence problem

did you replace the six convergence resistors with the ICs? as Hitachi recommends replacing the six resistors when the ICs are replaced as the old ICs can harm the resistors and they will need replacement.

Put new ic chips in and the problem still exsists

Many times when the convergence modules go bad, they blow some of the resistors that feed it power. Look for little small low resistance resistors right in the vicinity of the modules.
Hope Ya Fix It.
