Question about Mitsubishi WD-60638 DLP TV

1 Answer

Lamp blowing Lamp1 6 weeks (fluke?). Lamp2 26 months. Lamp3 2 months. Lamp4 7 weeks. Have put lamp5 in tonight. Should I be looking for some other problem before lamp5 goes out? Any obvious issues? Thank you.

thank you. but the lamps are already housed and i hold by the handle. i was aware of the problems caused by touching bulb so am careful not to. odd thing is tv has no symptoms that bulb is going out. such as dimming prior to failure. mitsubishi has replaced all but the one i bought after 26 months, but they suggest something else is wrong and i am out of warrsnty. hate to risk moving it to a shop if it is a matter of bad bulbs.

How do u instal the lamp? these lamps are mercury filled hence when touched by the bare hands oils on the hands will cause thermal imbalances on the glass that will shorten the life of the lamp...wear latex gloves when installing the lamps in its cartridge and ensure the nuts are firmly in place

hey shelly.......yes u need to check the parameter values for the lamp by accessing the ez main menu but u will need a tech to do this and ensure the lamp ratings are at par with the parameter values, secondly u need to ensure the fan for the lamp is spinning fine n the vents are not obstructed to ensure appropriate cooling of the lamp, thirdly......do u switch off the tv at the tv button? or with the remote? if u switch off at the tv button the fans wont cool the lamp as u will have cut off the delay power for the fans to do the lamp cooling,,,so always use the remote to switch off then after 7 min use the main tv button to increase the life of the lamp, fourth u need to check the thermostat it may be faulty its located in the main compartment where the housing and lamp enters the tv lastly get the genuine lamp for this tv it maybe costly but will last and coincide with the tv's manufacturer's specifications

Toshiba 52hm95 lamp breaks after only weeks of use

It is as far as the set is concerned, it sees the lamp not on.

Most likely cause would be the lamp ballast that drives the lamp.

I get the message to replace the lamp, but the colors are acting up too. Is this because of the lamp or do i need a colorwheel too?

You may need both. The TV only knows how long you have been running the lamp. It does not know that it is going bad. If your lamp is still bright, you may get another few months or a year out of it before it "blows". Then again it might last only a couple more weeks. If the TV appears to be getting dimmer; its the bulb/ If you are having other issues with color it is something else. Jack -allprojectorlamps.com

Samsung HL-T5076S Tv blows bulbs about once a month

You're definitely not having a lamp problem. It can be your ballast not providing your lamp with the correct amount of voltage. Lamps should last a minimum of 1 to 3 yrs. specially if you bought a Philips lamp.
Look into your ballast. Samsung has a history with this ballast.

NEC VT695 (not a vt570) bad lamp blowing ballast board?

We have the same model here at our school too. I know of two that have done exactly what you said. I am trying to figure out if this is NEC fault. Bulbs are expensive and if the projector and NEC is a fault; we will definitely be moving on to a different brand.
