We have a Samsung side by side. Ice maker on the top as part of frig. water is leaking and I see the ice stopper is not closing to keep the warm air from entering the ice compartment. Any ideas

If the icemaker is leaking water onto the floor:
  • Turn off the icemaker and then turn off the water supply to the icemaker. See Icemaker On/Off Switch.
  • The water supply line is usually located under the kitchen sink.
  • Locate the cold water line and look for a small 1/4" copper line attached to it. Where these two lines meet, there will be a saddle valve. This is the shut-off valve. Turn this valve in a clockwise manner until it stops. This will shut off the water to the icemaker.

Water dispenser drips

The water inlet valve needs replacing. It's located in the rear of the refrigerator and can be accessed by removing the cover (either cardboard or metal). The water line is attached to the water inlet valve. You can order the part online or purchase one from a local dealer.

Samsung Refrigerator water dispenser does not work? Ice maker works

The electrically operated valve that opens when you attempt to get water is probably bad. This unit may have one unit with two valves. One each for the ice maker and water dispenser. This valve unit will be in the back of the refrigerator and have a copper or plastic supply line from your house. This line will be "live" so be sure and find and close the valve attached to your house's water supply.

Samsung refrigirator water dispenser works without filter but does not work with filter

Not enough water pressure in supply line to get past filter?
Open valve feeding supply line more and see what happens.

Ice maker not filling up with water, but it dispenses water.

Check for a blocked frozen fill tube at the ice maker. Very common. Make sure you have good water pressure at the water dispensor. If it takes a long time to fill a glass you need to either change your water filter if your fridge has one or make sure your water supply valve located at the other end of the water line is not plugged. If all this checks ok, you may need a new solinoid valve on the refrigerator.

No water/ice

HI. First, you will need to rule out any standard issues that will cause this. Check the internal, and external feed lines for any obstructions. Make sure that the internal lines are not frozen, or kinked. If the lines check out ok, move on to the water filter(if equipped).

In most units, there will be a filter, present. These devices are set to operate on a particular time frame. If their filtering limit is met, the filter will stop filtering water, thus, not allowing the fluid to flow, at all. Make sure that the filter is up to date. If you have verified that the filter is ok, move on to the water inlet valve assembly.

The water inlet valve is located behind your refrigerator. Find the water supply line coming into the valve and turn it off at the source (typically under the sink). Disconnect the supply line. Remove the screws that secure the inlet valve in place.

The water inlet valve is connected by two wires. Label the wire placement on the water inlet valve before disconnecting the wires. The wires are connected to the terminals with slip on connectors

Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If the connectors are corroded they should be replaced.

Inspect the filter screen where the supply line connects. Remove any debris or deposits that may have built up using a toothbrush, or warm running water. If you cannot clear the clog, it will be necessary to replace the valve (the filter is not removable on most inlet valves).

Test the water inlet valve for continuity using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X100 (if available, otherwise use the nearest ohm setting). Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should display a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. Close inspection of the inlet valve and especially the coil may reveal the exact ohm resistance rating to test for. If the water inlet valve does not pass this test, it should be replaced.

  1. Make sure filter is installed right.
  2. Disconnect water line see if water is flowing from line. May have a water valve in line not working.
