SOURCE: What products will remove dog wee stain from a carpet?

  • Dog liquid waste turns to crystals when it dries,, the only way to get the crystals out is with hot water extraction. If you use too much water you run the risk of it getting into the padding or the backing of the carpet and then it smells till it dries out. You need to get a carpet shampoo or cleaner that has enzymes in it.

HOW TO SPOT CLEAN A CARPET
I have a "furry family" of a dog and 2 cats who I love dearly. Unfortunately, my carpet has suffered from several "accidents" and "upset tummies". It is a challenge to find an effective cleaner that cleans the stain, reduces the odor in the carpet, and is reasonably priced.

In the past, I have tried commercial products that were both expensive and ineffective. I have also used vinegar mixed with water and, although it was effective, it did not achieve the results that I would have liked. So one day, I decided to mix a little scented fabric softener in with the vinegar and water and VOILA what a difference! It removed the stain and left the carpet soft and smelling fresh. It has become my preferred method of dealing with pet stains on the carpet.

If you decide to give this a try, be sure to test this solution on an inconspicuous place on your carpet to be sure it does not discolor or lighten it. So far, I have had only good results from its use.

To Spot Clean a small area:

  1. Fill an empty clean spray bottle with equal parts of water and vinegar. Then add a capful of scented fabric softener to the bottle. Shake it up for 30 seconds.

  2. Spray the stained area

  3. Let it sit for 2 minutes and then spray a little more on it.

  4. Rub the stain with a dry cloth until it disappears.

  5. The vinegar odor will fade as it dries and helps to remove the foul smell

  6. Let it dry and you will notice a nice fresh smell and your carpet will be soft.

  7. Once you vacuum, you will have a hard time telling where the stain was.
I have actually used the mixture above in my Bissell Carpet Cleaning machine with good results. It is much less expensive than commercial carpet cleaning solutions. Be sure to read your machine manual or contact the manufacturer to make sure it does not affect its operation. So far my machine is tolerating it well.

This is a personal tip that I just wanted to share with others. I hope you find it useful.

What is the best way to clean a fresh blood stain from a wool carpet?

Cold water on a clean cloth, blot with damp cloth, then with dry cloth, repeat, repeat, repeat until you do not see any red coming out. If you have a carpet cleaner flush it with lots of cold water sucking it up with your carper cleaner or extractor. A good professional carpet cleaner can prevent your spot from becoming a stain. Often you can use enzyme cleaners to remove blood but NOT on wool carpets.

How to clean spots off carpet

It depends on what the spots. They may actually be stains. Spots will come out if you use the correct cleaning process and cleaners but stains are permanent unless bleached or dyed. If you are not sure it may be less expensive to call a professional carpet cleaner that knows what they are doing (not all of them do)

Cleaning spots on carpet my pet throws up on carpet

Robert, I take care of that problem two ways. First I take a very wet cotton towel and put it in the microwave for about 1 minute. After that time I remove it while wearing a GOOD pair of gloves, as you are dealing with steam. Go to the spot and rub the heck out of it with the cloth. You may have to repeat, but do NOT forget the gloves. Also, there is a spray bottle product of a cleaner called Awsome. I find it helps clean these spots as well.

Would like to remove urine stains on carpet with steamer. Do not have any instructions. Please help

You should not try to remove the stains with the steamer. Removing stains with a steamer can cause a chemical reaction that will bond the urine to the carpet.
