According to the manual, this is pointing to the ignitor. Ignitors on these units tend to be finiky, working at times but failing others. Replace the ignitor and your error should stop. First try killing the breaker, wait 2 minutes, than reset it. This will clear the codes and start from scratch. If you continue with the same code than the ignitor is the problem

Testimonial: "Thanks Dan however I am thinking on the lines of the control board because when first powering heater, it should be on standby and do nothing, but it attempts to run the fan and go through some ignition trial. It throws the IO code instantly. I unplugged the control pad and repowered heater. It then when through the same ignition trial where the fan runs and heater shuts off and tries again with no commands and no connection to the touch pad because it is not plugged in. The igniter ohms out at 15.6 which is in specification. I don't like to be a parts changer, so I am leaning towards the ignition control board not the igniter because it throws the code to quick and never seen a heater do anything in standby upon powering up except sit there. Thanks for your input. Any other thoughts would be greatly appreciated."

Hayward H400 error code IF (Ignition Failure)

yes, make sure you order the correct part, youll need the model number and serial number. the ignitor has 2 wires wrapped with white fibers, usually 2 screws to remove it, and theres only one way to plug it back in. NOTE: Ignition failure does not always mean the ignitor needs replaced. make sure your ignitor doesnt turn on and glow when you start the heater. if it does, youll want to clean out the gas orifices.

I have an H 300 propane heater showing an HF code, cleaned all gas orifices and replaced the ignitor. Still comes up with the HF code any ideas.

Here is an answer written by Stephen Dorje. I think it should help.
This means the flame sensor/ignitor has failed. You are either not getting spark or the burners are not igniting if you are getting spark, I would recommend replacing the sensor/ignitor. Pretty inexpensive and a fairly easy fix. Here is the owners manual for the unit (not Lo Nox)....

I am getting IO message on h250. It will not ignite. Service agent says the F0059-456500 circuit board needs replacement. Make sense? where can I buy this board ?

Hi,

The IO code is not even listed in the manual....

here is the manual

http://www.hayward-pool.com/pdf/manuals/Manual285.pdf

Towards the back of the manual there are troubleshooting and flow charts....they should help you to troubleshoot your heater....

before I would change out the ignition there are many other thigns to check out also...

I HAVE PROBLEM WITH HEATER IS SWOING 1F IN THE SCREEN

YOur 1f code is actually a IF code which stands for "ignition failure".
This can be caused by many things, but the most likely is either the ignitor has failed, or the flame sensor has failed.

Make sure the gas manual gas valve is open. Remove from panel so that you can see the ignitor.
Turn off power, then turn back on. After 90 seconds, the ignitor should start to glow red hot. If this is not occuring, then it is likely the ignitor or ignitor wiring.

If the ignitor does glow, then the heater ignites, but still goes off showing the IF code, then it is the flame sensor.

If the ignitor glows, and the heater does not ignite, it is likely the gas valve or ignition control.

As stated above, the ignitor is most likely.

CE ERROR

CE is a communication error.

This is an automatic check performed anytime the unit is powered up. If there is no data communication between the main panel and the ignitor you will get this code within 30 seconds.

If communication is re-established this code will disappear.

DO NOT do any of the following with AC power on / to the unit.

First check the ignitor then, the wiring and terminals from the ignitor to the main board.

There just might be a corrosion problem with the circuitry or corrosion on the main board itself.

Thanks for using FixYa.
