Servicing a motor

- To access the motor, remove the back panel of the washer. The motor is mounted on an adjustable bracket.

- Test the protector with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Disconnect one electrical lead wire to the protector and clip one probe of the VOM to each protector terminal. The meter should read zero. If the needle jumps higher, the protector is faulty and should be replaced. Pry up the protector with a screwdriver and replace it with a new one made specifically for the motor or washer. Connect the new protector the same way the old one was connected.

Is it safe to plug a typical Kenmore kitchen refrigerator/freezer into a surge protector?

Safety is not an issue, the problem you may have, depending on the surge protector, is that when the compressor starts up the amps drawn from the circuit is very high which could cause the surge protector to trip, then the power would be shut off to the refrigerator,NOT A GOOD THING!
Good luck !

What type of surge protectors can I use for my refrigerator and for my stove. Is there single surge protectors?

There are whole-house surge protection devices but they are not user installable. Find two electricians to give you a quote for your application.

When plugged, it shorts the surge protector and outlets.

I noticed that my refrigerator, kenmore freezer2_bing.gif, and stove were all not on. This has not ever been a problem before, so I unplugged the surge protector and reset the outlet. I then plugged the refrigerator2_bing.gif and the kenmore freezer to the surge protector and I noticed when I plugged the kenmore freezer it just shorted the surge protector. I then just plugged in the refrigerator and oven to the surge protector with no problems. I tried to plug kenmore freezer to other outlet and same result "a short

I have a ld850sa03 washing machine that only agitates in one direction maybe gearbox failure,if so where do i get one,can you help

hi In most cases, motor malfunctions should be handled by a professional; do not try to fix the motor yourself. If the motor is a universal motor, however, you can change worn carbon brushes when sparking occurs, as detailed in the how to repair appliances article. To save the expense of a service call, remove the motor from the washer and take it to a professional service person, then reinstall the repaired or new motor yourself. To access the motor, remove the back panel of the washer. The motor is mounted on an adjustable bracket.
There is one other motor problem you can repair yourself. Washer motors usually have an overload protector clipped to the motor. When this component fails, the motor won't work. Before you take the motor in for service, test the protector with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Connect the new protector the same way the old one was connected.it is not gear box.............

Could be a bad overload protector in the motor. Some machines have a circuit where the machine rapid advances to the end when the motor overload protector kicks in. This would also make sense that it started happening in the Spin cycle when the motor draws the highest voltage.
