SOURCE: this is on a trimmer edger model # 536.796536

You can get rebuild kits from just about any lawn mower/small engine repair shop around. However unless your trimmer has had harsh treatment it most likely only needs a good cleaning. They are pretty simply to disassemble.
Remove the carb from the motor and get a clean spot on a bench or work table. You will need some solvent to soak it in, lacquer thinner works great because it will take care of any gas that may have turned to varnish during storage.
Remove the bottom float bowl attached by the four screws. Inside you will see the float. It is held in place by a pin that can be pushed out. Be careful not to lose the small wire clip that holds the valve pin to the float. After you have the float and valve out let everything soak over night. Using a small screwdriver (cheap jewelers drivers work best) wrap a piece of scottch pad or fine steel wool around the end and twist it into th port where the valve was. If you have a compressor blow it out the other ports and holes or a can of brake clean if no compressor and reassemble. It's also a good idea to clean out the fuel tank.
This will take care of 80% of problems with small engines. Any other trouble is most likely an issue it being worn out.
Hope this helps.

Why is gas leaking from the air filter

This is a carb flooding issue, there will be a rubber tipped needle in the carb, if this is not seating properly fuel will leak through the air filter, you need to go into the carb, check the metering lever height and replace the needle, unfortunatly it is not possible to replace the needle seat so if it continues to leak after fitting a new needle it will be a replacment carb.

I have a 1999 sears edger # 536-796525 model but wonder what Make engine is it? Bought it used so no manual and no engine name on it, small about 3 HP. Spark plug on top of old fashioned looking motor...

That is a sufficient amount of oil. Even the more modern horizontal crank engines have no dipstick and are checked that way. Anywhere in the threaded area and up is considered sufficient. It is great fun trying to find a manual from just 11 short years ago! The sites have manuals for almost all their current equipment, no luck finding yours yet. I am including a parts breakdown with diagrams, pricing and availability for your convenience from Sears. The manual is no longer available (part #73)

Craftsman 25cc weed eater carburetor need order of gasket and diaphram from the push bulb down

You just need your model # . You don't have to buy the diaghragm kit you need from Sears. You will need to know the manufacturer of the caburetor. Then, the model # of the carb. Then you will have all you need to order a diaghram kit, and they are not expensive. They normally don't include the bulb, but it can be purchased separately. Or you CAN go the Sears route if you like. Go to and type in your info to see if they have the carb kit and part you want.

Fuel bulb is not bringing in fuel when pushed

The larger line connects to the primer and returns fuel to tank. The smaller line has the fuel filter connected to it in the tank and connects to the small fitting on the side of carb.
Sounds like your problem is in the carb. You need to look your model up in Sears Parts because some models require replacing the entire carb.

I have a sears gas weedeater wii start then quits?

OK,could be several things. First Im assuming you have the right mixture in. The two fuel set screws on the carb may need adj,one is for high rev the other is for low end, this should be done by a proffesional. The carb could also need rebuilt and cleaned,it is deffinately in your carb though.
