Sounds like the wires are arching. My Questions is this a news set up? First thing unplug it before doing anything. Don't even touch the dryer before unplugging it. Then look at the back of dryer are the wires loose tighten them to the terminals. If they are not loose not maybe they are wired wrong make sure your color code matches up. What are your color codes? You can search your dryer model and come up with a diagram. That is all I can do without seeing it in person or knowing the model.

Our GE front load dryer sparks at the vent near the wall when plugged in and the dryer will not turn on.

May need to check ur thermal shut off with a multimeter? but the spark from vent is strange? are u saying the venting into the wall hole is sparking with the lint goes as it exits the dryer? as for the squeaking could have been bearings or even the rollers, etc but that would not cause a sparking to take effect? unless u mean its sparking from the terminal block where power cord is connected?

I have a Kenmore 90 series dryer, it started sparking on the plug that goes on the wall, what could it be? thanks

You have a loose connection in the wall plug would be my first guess and is shorting out, you need to turn off the breaker going to the dryer and unplug it from the wall remove the screws holding the plug in the wall and check for loose wires and tighten if you find anything loose, or it could just be a bad plug that needs replaced. Good luck hope this helps.

Dryer plug sparks after changing belt

One reason your seeing "really big and bright sparks" is because your dryer is wired with 240v!! Not something you want to mess with. Anytime you plan on working on a major appliance the very first step you should do is go to your panel box and turn off the breaker to that appliance. In your case the dryer. It's possible that when your trying to plug it back in that the dryer is still turned on. If that's not the case you may want to call a certified electrician to come out and take a look at it. Better to be safe than be sorry! 240 volts isn't something to play around with.

Tried to replace the cable from 3 prong to 4 prong. when we plugged it in the white cable sparked. now it is burned at the tip and the dryer will not come on

when you look at the terminal block there is 3 terminals right(red) center (white) left is(black) the other is common hook it to frame there should be a screw to attach it to . / if you hooked it up wrong the first time you may have electrical damage .. x your fingers. mm . some times the plug at the wall has been installed improperly. ck it .. mm good luck .

My dryer would not run when I pulled the knob to start. I took the power cord out of the wall outlet. When I replace the cord into the outlet and pulled the knob the outlet sparked.

you most likely have a loose wire inside that wall outlet. use an extension cord to plug your dryer into another outlet that you know works properly and see it your dryer will work on that power source. If it does, just replace the receptacle in that wall outlet. If the dryer still wont run, then you know you have a problem with the dryer itself. If that is the case get back and I can talk you through solving that problem also.

your vent is plugged or the dryer is too close to the wall put unit on air only and go outside check for air if none come back indoors and gently pull the dryer away from the wall then go back outside to recheck air flow should have improve if not the lint screen housing is plugged
