Question about Fedders Appliance Air Conditioner In-Window

Open Question

How many amps does my AC use?

I just bought an RV with an old Fedders Air conditioner. I want to get a generator so that I can run it, but I nee to know how many amps it uses before I can do that. All I know is that it's capacity is 7500 an hour. I also have the model number but cannot seem to find anyone that I can ask about the product. Maybe you can help. My model number is A1R08F2B

Dometer 3105457. how big of generator for the air

If it is a normal AC for RV then I would suggest something over 4000 watts, the AC's have a very high start amps.

You would really need to know how many amps the unit draws or is rated to draw when looking for a generator. Too small of a generator and it won't work, plus you could damage the generator and the AC unit. I would call an RV store and ask them as that is something simple for them to answer.

I HAVE DOMETIC DUO-THERM PENGUIN ROOF AIR CONDITIONING ON RV. THE UNIT WILL RUN WHEN PLUGGED INTO ELECTRICITY BUT WHEN GENERATOR POWERED THE AC UNIT KILLS THE GENERATOR ENGINE. WHAT COULD IT BE?

What size & type generator? On start up the AC unit can draw as much as 17-18 amps in some cases, and if your generator is not designed for a quick draw like that it will die.

Hello, I have the same exact generator, 2400 Yamaha. It works fine for my Ac, and then some. After it first kicks on, is the biggest surge. Then I have even after ac is running, I have had tv on and even used microwave. But as far as running you ac on your rv , not problem. I do it all the time. Mine is ulta quite, and 8 to ten hours run time on about a gallon of fuel. Mike

What size circuit breaker is on the generator that is tripping? You'll need a 20amp for AC alone, then consider other things that are drawing current when RV plugged in like , converter, fridge etc that may be drawing current at same time. Make sure fridge is on propane, as well as water heater if you have electric element option on water heater. AC may only draw 12-15 amps when running if good and clean and wired properly, but will draw 17-18 amps when compressor kicks in. Perhaps generator not designed for that surge?

My Fedders AC in my 2003 Roadtrek runs but doesn't blow cold air. Can't find valve in order to recharge it. Can you tell me where it is?

Window Air Conditioner are sealed at the factory,
no service valves & you can not buy R22 without
a licence

If you had to add refrigerant, common sense would
say you have a leak

Seldom repair that type of unit

It can be repaired sometimes, but usually they are
20 years old & you get a new one

My guess is the breaker on the gen. tripped, both unit starting at the same time, draws quite a but of amps.

Hi,
No, it will pull way too much power for that...thay pull about 20 amps @120V which would be 200 amps at 12v...get the picture??
Many RV's have a 120v AC generator that they run to power these...

Air conditioner

Airconditioner compressors has so little voltage tolerance, if voltage is lower than its rated, it will not run at all. I suggest you let the generator run at full first before turning on your airconditioning.

Circuit Breaker and Dometic Rooftop RV Air

Its the watts you plug in too like ither 30 watts vs 50 watts. 30 watts will cause your wires to get hot in the unit. just pull down your breaker box and look at those white ground wires.
