lol I know that feeling...you need to reinstall the bios...you can find them on a flash drive on ebay. Or go free and use a flash drive to get it free online...go to acer.com...Its a known problem by Acer :) update: My Acer 500 stopped working Friday, with the very same freeze at Acer startup screen detailed here. Reset button didn't work (there's a post here that said he pressed the vol/up button while pressing the Reset button-I've only been inserting the tip of a paper clip to press button, which is the correct way?
Did the hold power button while pressing vol/up then sliding lock button back and forth. "Erasing Cache" appeared, but screen goes back to Acer startup and nothing.
Found this thread from a poster at Androidtablets.net. Downloaded one of the zip files posted here. Went to copy to an SD card, Can the file be placed on a USB drive instead? While trying the power "Bootloader vo.03.12-ICS Fastboot USB Download
There should be a tiny reset button or pinhole (use a straightened out paper clip). If reset button/hole itself does not work, try pressing it while holding down the power button at same time. Otherwise, it sounds like you have a battery/charging issue (try another charger cord if available).
I spoke with someone in their Tech department today about another problem and mentioned that I was having problems with it charging and he said that when I get back the device there is an update that needs to be installed in regards to the charging problem. So when you get a chance install all updates.
I received my 3g model for Christmas as well. Last night, it lost wireless connectivity, froze and then would not turn back on, even though it was fully charge. However, I charged overnight again.
This morning, I held the on switch for much longer than normal, until the green light started flickering. I received a simple black screen a few times, but contintinued to hold the switch on. Then it reset itself and all is good.
So I know that sounds like a simple solution, but maybe worth trying. Good luck. It's disgusting, I know. I was so upset.
Make sure that the kindle is fully charged. Plug your kindle into the wall charger, a yellow light will light up. When the yellow light turns green, your kindle is fully charged. Then try turning on your device. If the device still does not turn on, hold the power switch for 15 seconds, this will reboot the device.
