Not sure how you will have removed the dry ink but there will undoubtedly be more clogged ink in the printheads and nozzles themselves.
There's two approaches to resolve the issue...
1. Active
Through the use of a cleaning solution that you effectively force into the appropriate ink receiver on the printhead.
This can delaminate (technical term: knacker/mess-up) the printhead so avoid the use of anything other than the gentlest of pressure.
2. Passive
Get the printhead off the cleaning station (where it normally rests when not in use) and then soak the cleaning station pad with cleaning solution (so you have a puddle)... Return the printhead to it's normal resting position and leave the printer disconnected from power for a few hours. You then plugin and switch printer back on and it will purge the solution out of the cleaning station. Print one nozzle check then repeat as required. Be prepared to leave overnight to allow the cleaning solution to wick into the nozzles and break the clog does like soaking dishes in a sink.
You could use both methods in tandem to tackle the clog from both sides but patience and time are both critical ingredients. Expect it to take up to a couple of days.
Best of luck.

SOURCE: Black printing incorrectly

check whether there is an alignment adjustment in the printer driver, the lines may simply be one nozzle out of alignment., or the connector between the print carriage and cartridge may be dirty, causing that one nozzle to misfire

not a guarantee, just something to check

SOURCE: epson photo 995 - black ink not printing

This is a common problem I have found with Epson printers. If you don’t use the printer on a regular basis the printer heads can clog. I have found no way to clean the heads once this occurs. I will now only purchase HP printers because the printer heads are part of the ink cartridges. With every cartridge change you get new heads, end of that problem!

SOURCE: epson sx200 One of the colour inks is empty and no print in black

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. Epson and all other inkjet printers do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Printing in black only option will only work if the colored inks are OK. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing.

SOURCE: faint printing after cartridge change & head cleaning

How about nozzle check output? Is it perfect? No missing lines? Do head cleaning, wait for 30 minutes. Check nozzle again. If there are no difference betwen two output, you may need cleaning head manually.

BLACK INK NOT WORKING

Black ink head clogged/cartridge empty. Go to Printer Utility and do a Nozzle Check, Print a Pattern. If Black pattern lines are missing/broken then do another cleaning. Don't forget to try a new cartridge if the cleanings do not work. Refurbished Epson printers are great and can be purchased at www.epson.com/clearance. I have used them for 15 years.

Colour ink not printing

If the printer is printing blank pages, make sure you are using the correct printer driver and make sure the paper size is correctly selected in the driver. If the printer is printing black only, the "Ink" option in the printer driver may be set to "Black" instead of "Color" or a setting in the software may be set to print black only. Also, the print head nozzles may be clogged.

A head cleaning and nozzle check must be performed as a cycle. After printing a nozzle check, examine the printed dot pattern. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If there are gaps in the dot pattern, continue with another cycle. Perform up to 3 cycles if necessary. If the nozzle check is not printing completely, and if the head cleanings do not help the nozzle check pattern to print completely, turn the printer off overnight and try the cleaning cycles again.

Try a new ink cartridge. Also, make sure you are using a genuine ink cartridge and has the same number as your old catridge.

Did you replace the tri-colour ink-cartridge, or did you replace the print-head mechanism?

Are you sure that the CYAN part of the ink-cartridge is not empty?

Brother MFC-290C not printing black

Hi,

The nozzle may be blocked. So take out the colour cartridge and place its nozzle in a bit of water for about 10 mins. Bring it out and dab the nozzle with folded paper. If the tissue is blotted with the three colour it means you have unblocked the nozzle. Try now to print after returning the colour cartridge. You may need to repeat to get good results.

Thank you!!

print a nozzle check from the maintenance menu

see which colours are missing, run through a few head cleans and print another nozzle check see if there is any improvement

also replace the cartridges of the missing colour they may be dried up. have seen this before where a 3/4 full black cartridge just completely stopped printing

if the problem still persists then get a syringe or an eye dropper and some form of spirit (I have used vodka in the past but clinical alcohol is recommended as not as sticky)

choose change cartridges from the menu then remove the power cord. with the cartridges removed you now have access to the printheads.

using the syringe (or eye dropper) place the nozzle on the spike that goes into the cartrige and inject a small amount of the alcohol leave this to soak for a few mins then mop up the excess with a cloth repeat this a couple of times put the ink back in power up and run another head clean (you can also put afew drops on the spounge that sits under the print head during the head clean

print the nozzle check again you shoudl see most of the nozzles are now working run another head clean if desired now try with a pic

have used this on various epson printers including a stylus 700 R340 & 360
