Why doesn't my radio operate in the "PA" mode?

Some radio's do this (specifically Uniden) for some unknown reason. Ideally you plug a speaker into the PA output and when you switch to PA mode, the CB transceiver part should turn off and only your voice should come out of the PA EXT speaker to make it act like a personal megaphone.

Pa problems

look on the back of the radio. See those two holes that you can plug a speaker into, well one is for CB the other if for PA. plug your Pa speaker into the appropriate connector and you have Pa capeablity. You must turn the switch to pa on front of radio.

My cobra 29 turns on but i have no sound i can hear it key up and the meter swings speakerand mike are good could it be the finels

Are you sure its not on PA mode? And if the meter swings forwards its not a finale. It could be a bad soldier or IC chip. If you don't have it on PA to see if your IC chip is good take an external speaker plug it into your PA jack in the back turn on the PA switch and then key up the radio.Does it squeal or make any kind of noise if yes the the chip is good if no then there's your problem. If it is good Then its could be just a simple bad soldier.

The right earcup in my beats by dr dry solo hd is making a cracking sound when im turning it up and down

that is because you push all the air against the speaker. the air have to get oute somwere. i had the same broblem so i put a little peace of rubber between the ear cushion and the plastick part. so ther is a litte split. if jou has a good peace of rubber or some plastick soft foam en at the top, you just do\'nt see the split. but be carful he can drop in to the speaker. wen you\'ve don dhat you do\'nt heare it enymore if it is good. (my english is not vedry good, iam from holland) i hope it worked for you. :p

My cb radio is on but cant hear nothing sound is turn up but nothing come out

You didn't include the make / model CB you have, so I can only offer general suggestions. If these do not work, please provided the missing info.

Start out by locating and setting the the Volume to a position between 1/4 and 1/2 way clockwise, the Squelch to fully counter-clockwise and the "RF Gain" to fully clockwise to "MAX".

Check the position of the "PA / CB" switch and set to CB. When set to PA, both receive and transmit audio is sent directly to an outdoor speaker (instead of through the transmitter and antenna for reception by other radios). The PA speaker is usually connected to a jack at the rear of the radio. When the PA / CB switch is selected, the internal speaker is silenced even if there is no PA speaker connected.

At this point, you should hear static or voices (with an antenna connected). Do not attempt to transmit without a properly tuned antenna connected. If no sound is heard, there's something else wrong.

I dont kno the wiring colors for my 2000 taurus radio

All you need to do is get the power, ground, and antenna hooked up then start with two colors matching, example: one purple and one black with purple line hook those up to a matching speaker wire then turn stereo on and go to balance setting choose back left if speaker does not sound then go back right and if speaker does not sound then try front speaker right and then left once you find correct speaker move on to next two matching remember to. Mark wires FL or fr or bl or back right. Good luck

On my peavey pro 15 neo speakers i don't know which wire is for what. What is the black, red, blue and yellow wires for?

black and red will goto 1 speaker. and blue/yellow to the other. typically red and yellow are + and black and blue are -. the crossover board might tell you which is which where they solder to it. but i'm pretty sure the black/red goto woofer. try hooking up both to woofer and listen to it. 1 way is going to sound horribly wrong lol. that will mean you hooked up the tweeter leads to the woofer. but DO NOT HOOK UP WOOFER LEADS TO TWEETER. thats why i say to do it on woofer.

The sound isnt working on my radio the radio works but no sound and ive redone the wires and still wont work what do i do

Check the basics first, you do have the volume up. You don't have the mute function on. If you checked these and still have a problem, then I need to know something else. Did you use a wiring harness to hook up the radio. If you didn't, you need to undo all the work you did, purchase the harness, and put it in that way. You probably don't have the right wires hooked up which could fry your entire electrical system. However, if you did use a harness, then you might need to look at the speakers. Hope this helps.

Can not remember what the proper settings are for all the switches on an Uniden Trucker PTC104

I don't have one on my bench, but I found a picture of one online.

By what I see, here is how you need the switches set:

Mic Gain - turned clockwise, depends on how much modulated power you want to put out.

Squelch - turn all the way counter clockwise to open it up. Then turn it clockwise to set it where you want.

RF Gain - Turn all the way clockwise will open it up, then turn back counter clockwise to where you want it set.

SWR Cal - only used when the SWR/Cal switch is put in the Cal position. After you know the SWR of the antenna, you can use it to set the meter (while keying up) to what was read.

Cal/SWR/(can't read the bottom letters on the picture) - set to Cal to calibrate the meter to the SWR of the antenna, set to SWR so that if something happens to the antenna system, it will go high and you know there is a problem, set to the bottom to see the output power and incoming signal power on the meter.

ANL-NB/NB/OFF - set to the top to turn on the Automatic Noise Limiter and Noise Blanker, set to the middle to just turn on the Noise Blanker, and set to the bottom to turn both off.

PA/CB - turn to PA if you have a pa speaker connected to the radio, this will let you talk through the speaker. Turn to CB to talk on the cb radio channels.

CH9/(can't read but probably says NORM) Set to CH9 to lock the radio on the channel 9 emergency channel. Set to the bottom to use the channel selector to choose the channel to monitor or transmit on.

And lasty, but obviously, set the channel selector to chose the channel to monitor or transmit over.

This should help you out completely. If you have anymore questions at all, don't hesitate to contact me at rollincbmods@yahoo.com. I will answer any and all questions I can.
