No you will not be able to put in that cut out. The reason why is you will have 2 inches on each side or 4 inches on one side.

I have a Model CG206B. One front burner will not fire unless I fire the back one and then turn the front one on.

Hello,

The problem is going to be that the switch that turns on the spark for that front burner is defective and that switch needs to be replaced. To replace the switch on that cooktop which splis over the gas valve for that burner is remove all knobs and remove the face plate over all the burner valves, the switch slides off of the burner valve and the wires to it just slip onto the new switch,the part number for that switch is Y704512 it could be purchased at your local appliance partstore or online at;
apdepot.com
partselect.com
apwagner.com

before attempting any repair on the cooktop be sure to disconnect power and turn off gas supply

I just bought a 7904427 electric kenmore cooktop, which isnt installed flashed to the countertop, there is 2 mm gap between countertop and cooktop, cooktop sits on the 8 brackets instead of the flat...

From my experience, most cooktop manufacturers give cutout dimensions that almost always need modifications to get the screws or nuts on the stove to fit the cutout. Have your granite fabricator come enlarge the opening by grinding specifically where there is interference. They should be able to tent off your granite and use a vacuum to minimize dust.

I want to replace my Jenn-Air cooktop model 89890. What is the easiest replacement cooktop?

Greetings!
I tried to look up your cooktop and only found it mentioned in several places, and thus did not get a complete description of your unit. What I got leads me to believe that yours is a downdraft model. Whether or not this is correct, you'll need to measure the underside (cutout) measurements of the cooktop and the physical dimensions of your unit within the cutout. Armed with this information, you should be able to make an informed decision. I recently replaced a Jenn-air (downdraft, with switchable cooking modules) and selected a GE profile modle JP 989SK1SS (stainless steel). We also considered Frigidare, Jenn-air and some of the higher enders as well. Our preference boiled down to features, keeping all of the appliances (mostly) in the same brand, and reliability. Ours swapped out very close deminsionally, and the installation was easy and neat. Decide on a brand. Most dealers have a brochure that list all of the critical dimensions of their appliances, and you should be able to decide what's best for you.
Hope this was of some small help. Regards, and good hunting!

Removing and reinstalling

There should be removabe clamps attatched to the bottom of the cooktop which tighten with a screw to the bottom of your countertop. Loosen the screws to the countertop, then remove the screws that attach the brackets to the cooktop. The cooktop should then be able to be pulled out.

Elecrical hook-up for cooktop

Based on your description...it appears the Viking unit may NOT comply with UL and the NEC....but implies that some local Codes may permit the suggested connection...and it may indeed be permitted - if the unit actually draws straight 240 and does not require a neutral for 120 volts (some cooktops do need the neutral for 120 volt control switches...such as your Jennair). Code now requires that new 120/240 units that require the neutral (your Viking unit states that it does not) be a 4 wire assmebly....and your unit MAY be an exception to this requirement.

Under those conditions...then it more then likely CAN be connected as you (and Viking) suggest - black to black, red to red, green to white...and insure that the junction box is indeed well grounded to the supply bare ground wire - so that the metal flex will serve as a supplemental ground to the cook-top.The only other consideration will then be - IS the exisiting wire size and breaker that used to supply the Jennair correct for the new unit..? And if so - then you should be all set with your suggested hook-up...but without electrical nameplate data for both units for comparison...I have no way to determine that....both companies make several different models with different power supply requirements.

If the electrical data is compatible between the two units...then you should be all set as suggested - without having to rewire the cooktop.

Hope this helps...please follow-up if you need more details or have new information for me concerning this cooktop.
