Hello ,
I have a Datalogic Dragon D101 with based with PS/2 port. I try to connect using a simple ps/2 to USB then using a usb extension wire to connect the barcode to USB port located in the PC. But it seem like it will not work this way. Why? How can I connect my PS/2 barcode scanner to a PC USB port?

i connected it to a laptop using a usb to serial adaptor and bc-wedge serial to keyboard buffer application . i could send data to the reader but not get anything from it. i figured out that i did not bind the reader to the cradle as it says on page 7 of the quick reference book, it works great now any barcode i scan goes where i want it to .... i also connected it to a pc without using the usb adaptor thru the 9 pin serial cable and using the bc-wedge and it works with no problems ... had to make sure com port settings were the same 9600 8 none and 1 in windows and bc-wedge or the output is gibberish..hope this helped...

You could use a ps2 splitter cable to connect both the barcode scanner and the keyboard to the pc.
You would also have to use the correct scanner codes to ensure that the scanner is configured properly.
Alternatively, you could try connecting the scanner with only the ps2 to usb and miss out the extension cable to determine if that is the problem.
If the scanner is a ps2 wedge scanner, it will need reprogrammed with the correct scanner codes for usb.
