Error report on panel

Samsung SmH9 151S shows the letters SE on the panel. Have tried reseting the circuits and unplugging/replugging the appliance. What is it asking me to do?

That error means that the touch panel is sensing a button that is stuck down. The touch pad might have a short in it.

SOURCE: no power on GE space maker xl 1800

A microwave can be dead for many reasons.

It may be the fuse, which is usually located on the floor of the oven behind the control panel or between the door switches.

If the fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout (TCO) / thermal fuse on or near the magnetron or on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

If it goes dead for a while during or after cooking then comes back on, the magnetron is probably overheating and causing the magnetron thermostat to open.

Then when it cools, it closes the circuit and allows power through again.

When checking thermostats, if it has a hood fan thermostat, that should read open, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If it went dead almost immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead a few seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing high-voltage transformer.

If it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open or close the door, then there's a problem with a door switch or door switch mount.

If it's intermittent or random, it may be a bad connection, usually on the control board or a loose fuse holder, or even an intermittent fuse.

You should do a continuity test on the fuse while it's in the holder (with the microwave unplugged, of course) then turn the fuse by hand or take it out and put it back in, then test it again.

If you remove the fuse, then press the meter leads against the ends, it can allow internal contact to be made and make a bad fuse appear to be good.

We have critical safety & disassembly info (including a how-to video) at our site, linked here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

SOURCE: The letters "SE" is on

Hi, there are two possibilities. (1)keypad failure and (2) bad connection.

Obviously the easiest thing is to clean the connection. So first take the cover off. Behind the keypad is a circuit board. In addition to a few connections between the circuit board and other parts of the microwave, there is a ribbon connecting the keypad to the circuit board.

Loose the plastic on the connection, pull the ribbon out from the socket.then use a spirit to clean the exposed copper connections. Put every thing back to place then try it

Shows SE and not working

The SE error indicates a short in the key panel. You can try resetting the microwave by unplugging it (or turning off the circuit breaker). Leave it off for a minute or so. If the code recurs, check if the microwave is under warranty. If it is still covered by the warranty, contact Samsung for repairs. If it is out of warranty, decide if it is worth sending the microwave in for repairs. (You'll have to pay a fee for diagnosing the problem; that will be applied to the actual repairs if you have the unit fixed.)

I hope this helps.

Samsung microwave SMH8165W displaying error code -SE- and continuously beeps.

SE means system error, the keypad has a short in the membrane, or the control board has issues.

My SMH9151W Samsung Microwave displays a -SE- or a -5E- and will not operate. I unplugged over night and still will not operate

I had the same issue on a 2010 smh9151w samsung microwave after installing it and using it with no problem for 5 days. The second time we unplugged the microwave and turned the circuit breaker off and on we didn't reset the clock on the microwave so the display shows :0 and it has been working for 7 days straight now. Fingers crossed that this is a long term solution. Hope this helps. Thanks!

My Samsung microwave SMH9187W is getting a 5E or SE error code when I plug it in. Unplugging and replugging use to clear it for a bit but now it happens as soon as I plug it in. I am just out of warranty...

Maybe Just Lucky; I removed the front cover above the door by removing the two screws on top of micro. Then I removed the screw above the controll panel and carefully lifted off the panel. I checked all wire connections while plugged in and the SE code changed to 0. I reset the clock and put the panels back on.

I have SE code on Samsung SMH7177STE Microwave any advise how I can fix that ?? thank you

The -SE-error is a shorted keypad.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

Samsung Over range Microwave

I have the same "SE" problem. After reading this thread here, I realise it's likely the keypad problem, which explains the microwave's behaviour (no key was working).

So there were two possibilities. (1)keypad failure and (2) bad connection.

Obviously the easiest thing I could start with is to clean the connection. So I first take the cover off. Behind the keypad is a circuit board. In addition to a few connections between the circuit board and other parts of the microwave, there is a ribbon connecting the keypad to the circuit board.

Loose the plastic on the connection, pull the ribbon out from the socket. I then used spirit to clean the exposed copper connections. Put every thing back to place.

Voila, it's working again and we have been living happily ever after.....
