Question about DeLonghi ESAM6600 Espresso Machine

Ground coffee granules in cup

About fifty percent of the time when I pour a coffee (either via the short coffee, long coffee or latte functions) I'm finding loads of ground coffee in my cup to the extent that occasionally it's unprintable and I have to throw it out. Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem?

Are the pucks solid or loose in the grounds container ?

Probably the diffuser needs greased - or 25quid gets a new one

From what we can understand the gound coffee have move in the grinder plates. If this is the case you need to udjust the grinder to more gross coffee. try to vacuum again so you get out some more grounded coffee. Then use some beensand try to make some coffees. The coffee will run fast but this will help to remove all the grounded remains from grinder. After a few coffees you should turn the grinder udjustment back to it original place. Take care tha you turn only one to two step at a time perform a coffee and then you can turn again the grinder to more fine.
You can also remove the whole brew group and wash it well so everything will be as before.

My espresso machine no longer grinds the coffee beans. It did this morning it made two lattes, but tonight it isn't grinding.

Oh you must be upset that this has happen. I had something similar to this happen and what it needed was a good old fashion cleaning out. Be sure to clean all the parts and remove any old beans left in the machine. Run some vinegar through the machine to clean the fluid containing areas until you get a clean release into the cup. Run one more water through and I hope this fixes the problem for you.

The water pump is probably starving for water:1. Remove the clear plastic reservoir and set it aside. 2. Look into the hole that the reservoir sits on. You will see a fine plastic screen that keeps debris from getting to the pump. 3. Clean off the screen. You may have to disassemble the bottom of the machine and remove it to do it right. 4. Put everything back together and the short-cup problem will be history.

I have a new Krups XP 5240 machine. The instructions tell you how to make espresso and froth milk for cafe lattes, but don't mention how to actually MAKE the latte. What is the correct procedure for...

A latte can be made to suit your own taste, but as a starting point I would suggest:
Steam your milk first to 140 f, let it rest for at least 30 seconds( the temp will continue to rise up to around 160-180 f
while the milk is resting make your espresso shots; I like quite a strong coffee so I would make 2 shots using the double measure (once the coffee starts flowing this should take 15 seconds)
pour your shot(s) into a cup/mug first then top up to about 5mm from the rim of the cup with milk, holding the froth back with a spoon.
finally knock out any bubbles by banging the milk jug on the worktop ( this can be messy until you get good at it). using a spoon/ swirling the jug mix the foam and remaining milk until combined then top up your cup. this gives the smooth foam on the top of the latte.

Hope this helps,

How many oz of expresso when making a 2 cup with the machine in a measuring glass . i bought two measure shot glass to make a perfect cup of latte. i know it says 24 seconds

For every cup of espresso we mean about 25cc to 30 cc and you have to use from 7 to 8 gr of groud coffee per cup according to the coffee blend and how strong you wand the aroma of your coffee. The running time for making either one cup or two cup with apropriate filter is about 24 to 30 sec maximum.
Good luck

I have just bought a Delonghi 680M. When I press latte not enough milk flows out. The cup only fills up about 2 inches and then the coffee pod starts.

The coffee machine has standard settings for each program. What you seem to feel is not enough is the standard setting for Latte. You can always set it to your desirable quantity, either for milk or for coffee.

Refer to your users' manual for more :)

What's the recipe for coffee ice cream

  • 2/3 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons instant espresso powder
  • 2 tablespoons espresso liqueur
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream

Put the condensed milk in a bowl and stir in the espresso powder and liqueur. In a separate bowl, whisk the cream until it reaches soft peaks. Fold the cream into the condensed milk mixture, then pour this gorgeous caffe latte-colored airy mixture into an airtight container and freeze for 6 hours or overnight. Serve straight from the freezer.

This is the best procedure to make a coffee ice cream.
