Question about Televison & Video

LCD image problems

Something wrong with my toshiba 40rv525u. I think the backlight and inverter are fine, and the power supply looks fine. Don't know what's wrong. My feeling is its either the tcon board or the motherboard. I feel like its something with the motherboard. Maybe a blown cap that looks fine. I'm not sure any ideas are much appreciated.

You've here with a video of its app settings. I can't see any fault with it. Back-light is OK. But something wrong with its center part. Might be with its back light CCFL lamps. Check it. How old is this TV?

If it takes my LCD Westinghouse TV 20 min. to warm up then the picture is fine, do I need to replace the backlight inverter?

Did you fix the tv Patty? I have the same tv and when i turn it on, it screeches really bad, but after about 20 minutes or so, all is well. I don't think its a main board issue, but i already ordered and replaced the backlight inverter - that didn't solve the problem. I read somewhere that the power supply is what the problem is, but i just don't want to start buying all of these components as my trial and error. I bought a new tv to replace this one but it is no where near my Westinghouse. I love this tv more than my 55" LED Samsung in the family room!

My proview 3200 has picture but no sound

Hi gravdar4,
Power on the unit in the dark room then aim the flashlight directly to the screen, you will barely see the images. This is because your backlight is not functioning. The following reasons are the caused.
1. Power supply- missing B+(supply voltage) coming from this board feeding the inverter board. This was caused by faulty transistor, dried/leaky electrolytic capacitor, open fusible resistor.
2. Inverter board- even the B+ was present from the power supply, if the fuse, driver transistor, driver transformer was faulty, no output to the backlight resulting to black picture.
3. Busted backlight
Diagnosing the fault istechnicaland if you don't have necessarytools and test instrumentand can't fix it yourself, I would advice you to look for anexperienced technicianto isolate the problem.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

Tv has black screen, no picture

Good day!

Please before we go to the further troubleshooting please to play a DVD or recorded shows to determine if the problem is in your TV or cable connections.

If the problem persist please try to replaced this simple procedure on how to fix that problem.

  1. Remove the back cover of your TV.
  2. Check the 24vdc from the power supply going to inverter board using multimeter tester (range on DC)
  3. If you have 24vdc on the input voltage of inverter board, try to check the output voltage of that board,it should have 500vdc going to the cathode light inside of TV (back light)
  4. If you don't have the 24vdc on the inverter it means your power supply got trouble.
  5. You have better chances if you have failing capacitors on the power supply.Just look the image of capacitor if it is leak/bulged on the top.
If the problem is still there and you have other question just add a comment

I hope this solution will be helpful.Thank you for using FixYa.

The model of my laptop is TOSHIBA SATELLITE U400 MODEL NO. PSU40C-DW208C the problem is the backlight of the LCD is built in and no power on it, thats why i cannot totally see because its very dim color,...

Greetings,

It may not be the backlight, it may be the screen inverter which is a reasonable replacememnt. As a laptop specialist in my town, I always order both the screen inverter and the LCD unless both are sold combined.

Fixing a backlight is one of the most difficult laptop repairs possible to attempt. 1. You're not going to fix it. 2. In replacing it you'll have to do such delicate hand-soldering that even I don't attempt it any more and I'm VERY good with my hands.

So, friend, please order a new LCD and screen inverter and you'll be just fine after having someone spend about 1 hour replacing both.

Kind Regards,

Selk

Toshiba P105, backlight dont turn on in my lap

If the LCD, inverter etc works in anothe laptop but not in the original laptop then it looks like a motherboard problem, possibly the power supply to the inverter.

I turn on my computer but the screen is still black

think you might have a failed screen inverter (FL inverter); this problem is very common with laptops. The inverter board acts as a power supply for the LCD screen backlight bulb, it converts low voltage DC power into high voltage AC. On most laptops the inverter board is located inside the display assembly below the LCD screen and you can get access to it if you remove the screen bezel (LCD mask). When the screen inverter goes bad the backlight will not turn on anymore or it turns on for a short time and then goes off, but you still can see a faint image on the screen and the external monitor works just fine. First of all I would make sure it’s not just a loose connection and reseat connectors on the inverter (it looks like you already done this part). Next, I would try replacing the inverter board. It might fix your problem with the backlight. It’s possible that you have a faulty cable, bad motherboard or even bad LCD screen, but I would try replacing the screen inverter first.
