Question about HP Pavilion a1410n (ER890AA) PC Desktop
Wont load past the Win XP Start screen. ive tried the BIOS update and it was unsucessful. Please help
Seems to be a bad driver or damaged boot.
If the computer shuts down and restarts check CPU fan and blow dust out from heat sink, CPU may be overheating.
Otherwise, use the recovery disk to repair, or the installation CD and do the system repair. Or from repair disk, if your computer worked fine before, Restore To a Previous setting.

Go into the system BIOS when the desktop boots (usually by pressing del or F10) Go to the boot options tab and follow the instructions to adjust the order of the disks. F10 to save and exit - it should now boot to the required disk

If you can boot into safe mode, then once in safe mode open system restore and then restore to a couple days prior to the install of the hp drivers. This should fix the problem. If you need to know how to get into system restore let me know your operating system (Vista or XP)

ok. when you update the BIOS, the settings get changed to 'default' settings. What you need to do is go into your BIOS, and change a setting. It's called "SATA Operations" or something like that. It will give you two choices.... either AHCI or ATA. Whichever oen it is on, choose the opposite. Save and Exit BIOS.
retry booting to Windows. I think this is your problem, but it would be better if you could tell us what the error on the blue screen is. It probably flashes really quickly and is hard to see so I understand if you can't tell us.... but try this and let me know how it works.

Unplug the case from the power, open the cover and try to locate on the motherboard a small round battery (a little bigger that the one at the electronic watches) TAKE CARE THAT THE TOWER IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE MAINS. Very carefully remove the batery and wait 1-2 minutes. After that insert the battery back, close the case, plug the tower and start the pc. It will boot at the default bios settings, without passwords but you have to make the settings again (date, boot order e.t.c.)
In case of a problem post back.
