90% of all gas dryers lighting intermittently is resolved with new coil packs on the gas valve. The coils are replacable fairly easily and inexpensive.

SOURCE: igniter on my gas dryer glows but does not ignite

If the ignitor is infact getting hot enough the next step is for the coils to open the valve to release the gas. Most of the time the ignitor is not drawing the proper amperage to open the coils. One or more of the following parts would be bad.
ignitor # 5303937186 $50.00 shipped to you.
coil # 5303931775 $40.00 shipped to you

SOURCE: ge adora gas dryer works fine for the first 8 minutes

most likely you have bad gas coils.when the coils are on there way out they work fine until they heat up then they fail.the coils are what opens the gas valve, they are located on top of the gas valve, remove the 2 phillips screws, remove the cover and change out the coils.simple job

How to light the Pilot light for GE Dryer DDG7980

Your dryer does not have a pilot. It has a "igniter". Here is a link to the part if it is not glowing to ignite the gas.

MY GE GAS DRYER MOD.#DDG7100NBLHT TURNS ON BUT NO HEAT

The motor is operated, but the gas control is not. Most people think of the ignition control, but it may be a less costly part.
If you can access the back panel when you start the dryer to make sure the ignitor glow on then off then your controller is good. However the thermal fuse or thermostat needs to be replaced. I could not locate your model, but here is a link to another model to show you the locations of some items that you are looking for on your dryer. Good luck.

How do you light a pilot light for my GE gas dryer? Model = DDG7188PHLWH

How old is your dryer? Only models from the 1980's and older have actual pilot flame lighters. If it's newer it will have either a spark igniter or an electric glow bar. If you have a large front access panel across the bottom, then you may have a pilot light. Remove the panel and look for the gas valve. (NOTE: Before lighting anything, make sure you do not smell gas. If you do, you'll need to air the room out before trying) There will be a burner coming out the back of the gas valve control and this control will have a red push button in the front or side of it to allow gas to the pilot only. Using a extended bbq type lighter, light the pilot at the pilot assembly and hold the button for about 60 seconds. The pilot assembly is connected to the gas valve control by a small diameter aluminum tubing with a copper thermocouple right next to it. Release and make sure the pilot stays lit. Before putting the access panel back on, turn on the dryer and watch for the burner to light. It should be a strong blue flame. Let us know if we can help you further. Not knowing why your pilot went out in the first place, there may be a unforeseen issue that may need attention. If you have a propane gas dryer and you ran out of gas, then it may take a while to get gas to the pilot, so be patient when trying to light it. Never hold the button down without the lighter lit at the pilot assembly, so there is not a build-up of gas. If you are not comfortable doing this, I recommend you call your gas co to light it for you, as many will do it for free! Good luck and be careful!

I need to find where the fuse is in my GE profile gas dryer DPGT750GC1WW. WE need to find this because our heat doesn't work so we need to replace the fuse

The model number you gave is for a gas dryer.
You will not find a thermal fuse in this dryer.
Your problem with no heat most likely lies in the gas valve or its subcomponents like the thermistor/flame sensor or igniter/glow coil.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

My ge he gas dryer is not igniting

your dryer may have a spark igniter or a hot wire igniter .. those go bad after so many hours .. if you look in where the flame usually is .. as your start the dryer, you should see a small glowing wire if its a hot wire igniter .. or you should hear clicking and see sparks if its a spark igniter .. if you dont see/hear either then thats likely your problem .... both of those parts are available from washer/dryer parts distributors or GE parts on the internet .. but you have to know the make and model number of your dryer .. you should find that on a tag inside the door or on the back. .. if it actually ignites but quickly shuts off then you probably have a clogged exhaust hose or lint filter chamber .. it reqires a large unrestricted air flow thru the machine. if that is blocked then a sensor shuts off the gas in just a few seconds . . i am assuming that the drum is turning .. if not then thats a whole different problem ..

GE Gas Dryer (Model DQSR 483) Drum works but does not heat

There are three things besides what you aleady checked:
1. Open the small access door in front of the dryer and start the heat cycle. The ignitor must glow a bright orange so that it is hot enough to light the gas. If there is no orange glow, then the ignior needs replacement.

2. If it glows then cuts off, then glows, again and cuts off, the thermocouple sensor wire is out of position. It needs to be very, very close to the ignitor. This thermocouple sends a temperature signal when it senses that the ignitor is hot enough to ignite the gas. Unplug the dryer. Re-position the thermocouple wire mount so that the thermocouple wire is almost touching the ignitor. You may also "bend" the wire. Plug power back on and heat.

3. If it still does not heat, then the automatic gas valve that is controlled by the thermocouple sending unit is broken. The automatic gas valve cannot be safely "fixed" and must be replaced.
Hope it's just the thermocouple wire.

Gas Dryer igniter glows but does not ignite

If the igniter goes on but only cycles off you have a bad solenoid coil on the valve you can pick them up as a set at a local parts supply shouldn't be more than $25

MY GE GAS DRYER WILL NOT HEAT UP

check an pop the lil plastic cover on the front of the dryer an then turn the dryer on an see if the igniter glows after 30 secnds if it glows........** you probably have bad coils****if it doesnt then check the thermal fuse for continuity if is not checking ok replace it , that is one of the most common causes,
steps
1 check igniter for glowing
2 check thermal fuse for continuity test
3 if they both check ok an still no heat change the coils

good luck!

Gas dryer

There should be a gas igniter, inside of the burner chamber, that will glow bright red before the gas will be allowed to flow. If the dryer model that you have has a flap on the front you will be able to observe this otherwise you will have to remove the front of your machine to check it. If you post back with your machine model number I will be able to assist you further.
