Question about Sceptre X37sv-Naga 37 in. LCD Television

Sceptre X37SV no blue light

My Sceptre X37SV simply quit, no blue light. The PS fuse is good, and I have 120 VAC at the PS. The two caps next to the power connector appear to have done some arcing, but they act like caps to the meter. I could probably figure this out if I had a print of the power supply, but I'm kinda shooting in the dark...

I don't think those are capacitors. They are varistors and (as a pair) they are in series between the mains and the load. Current flows through them so if they have dry-jointed then you have an open circuit and no current flow. This seems to be a recurrent problem. I'm trying to locate a replacement but I can't find the characteristics of the SCK 085 listed anywhere.

My guess is that this is a US problem only. In other countries with higher mains voltage, the power supply draws a lower current and doesn't cause the varistors to overheat.

Blue power light flashs and won't turn off and has no picture or sound

It may have bad solder joints in the power supply board, look at the solder joints on the Thernistor and DC filter caps for leaky/domed tops.

Yes there are fuses, but if you have led lighting up then it's not the main fuse, Why was tv unplugged in the first place, did you have problems before with set? It sound like power supply is bad, and it would be cheaper to just replace, you can check with, or or even

Check the power supply board for those dead capacitors. It alway have bulges up on it tops or puff up on it tops.Replaced those dead gases leakages capacitors.Than,it is the power supply board it dead power supply board. No,capacitors bulges up on it tops or puff up on it tops. The logic Tuner board is dead.

The Sceptre TV do use the Sony codes. However, the cheap universal remotes do not have the buttons needed. The Volume Up/down and channel up/down are controlled with the circle of buttons (arrows) in the middle of the remote.
You can get an OEM remote from Sceptre. They still have them available. Sceptre is in California.
