Question about Kohler Home

K-4763 Zofa soft close toilet seat

I purchased a K-4763 Zofa soft-close toilet seat and it has become stained over the years and has a brownish orange tint (possibly from exposure to iron in the water). I have tried cleaning the seat carefully with soap and water but that did not work. I moved on to non-abrasive cleaning solutions but they still would not get the stains out. It is a comfortable toilet seat and the staining and vulnerability to scratches are the only problems I have with it. Is there a way to remove the stains safely? I have a septic tank so I have to be careful about what chemicals I use.

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL ULTIMATE CARE II MAKES YELLOW BROWN STAINS ON LIGHT COLOR CLOTHES

Grease will not come from the interior of the washer, as the machine ages build up deposits under the basket and it is oily, greasy and full of mildew. If can get a spanner wrench from a appliance parts house and remove the basket you will see on machines older than three years a build up starting. I pulled 15 lbs from a 25 year old machine and I had to go get sick outside, it was bad.

Does your stove have an electric self-cleaning cycle?

If so, do it. I was surprised how well it worked on the glass too!

Remember though it may take 3-4 hours at a very high temperature.

SOURCE: water line stain

Try a product called Iron Out. You can use it for a lot of different types of stains that build up in toilets, dishwashers, washing machines, etc. You can get it at any hardware store. I'm in PA, though, so I don't know if it's available in all states. This worked for me, but the minerals in your water may be different than mine and it may not work the same for you. Good luck!

SOURCE: Cleaning Tempered Glass

Norwex Descaler is the absolute best thing I've found for hard water build up on any surface, including glass shower doors and shower/sink fixtures. When I moved into my current house last year, the bathtub and shower head were disgusting! They were white with years of built-up hard water residue. Repeated application of CLR and a ton of elbow grease just couldn't get it off. When I tried Norwex DeScaler for the first time, it removed ALL of the soap scum and lime in the FIRST application.

This stuff is enzyme based - free of hazardous chemicals and enviro friendly. The enzymes in the DeScaler actually eat the soap scum! I just spray it on, wait 5 -10 minutes, and wipe off with my wet microfiber cloth (also from Norwex). It's incredible. It works better and faster than CLR, or any other chemical alternative I've tried. It's fume-free and can be used by people with chemical and environmental allergies.

You can buy it from a Norwex Rep, or order it online - a good site is www.Norwex-Healthy-Cleaning.com. Hope this helps.

How do i fix a soft closing toilet seat

some of these have bolts under seat...you turn seat to left or right by grabbing while in closed position...this will release the seat from the holding bolts...then tighten the bolts....then reset the seat on bolts then lock down by doing the opposite as you took off...

Can you tell me why Kohler discontinued this Zofa padded toilet seat

They had a lot of problems with the plastic splitting at the seams and some state outlawed them for use as the did not meet the sanitary standards as being antimicrobial.
In short they were not selling enough of them make money.
Always comes down to the bucks.

One of the softclose buffers on the Subway toilet seat has pulled

Each soft close 'Barrel' is handed - one left - one right. (One is grey - the other white).

Most soft close errors occur because the seat hinges come loose. When this happen, the barrels slightly pull-out of the seat. (There are silver discs on the barrels - These should be tight against the seat).

Once the barrels become loose the first thing that happens is the top cover won't soft close - but the seat still does.

To rectify - puch both barrels tighly into fitting and tighten the hinges. (See below).

To tighen the seat hinges you need to get a flat headed screwdriver underneath the chrome round hinge cover - and 'flick off'. Underneath is a X head screw which id also hexagonal. You can either tighen both by spanner - or screw driver. (sometimes these can be tricky - but it will come off).

If both cover AND seat do not soft close AND the barrel silver discs are firmly located against the seat - the barrel has probably broken.

If so - spare parts can be obtained here:
