hello don't feel sad, just disassemble the the connecting hose at the bottom of vac clean out the hose and filter make sure theres no obstructions where air comes in at the bottom of vac (most likely there's a clog in the hose area leading to the vac)put it back together and your good to go!

I have an old fantom thunder upright and need to take the bottom off it to see what is stuck in it. I don't know how to do this.

moz-screenshot.jpgI found a manual for the Fantom Stick Vac, model FS801 (your model may be different).
For "Cleaning Air Driven Turbo Brush", it says:

  1. Remove the turbo brush from the hose or extension tube.
  2. Slide locking latch forward, then tilt the top housing of the brush upwards. The top housing is hinged and will tilt up approximately 45 degrees only.
  3. There may be some dust, lint, hair, etc. on the turbine wheel. Remove as much of this as possible.
  4. You may also use the unit's hose with the crevice tool attached, and use the vacuum to remove any additional debris from the turbine.
  5. Ensure that the turbine wheel moves freely by rotating it with your finger. If the turbine does not rotate, call Customer Service for help.
  6. Once clean, close the top cover of the turbo brush and slide the locking latch towards the rear of the brush to lock.
There is also an image in the manual that might help. You can download the manual for free here.

Hope this helps!

I have what I thought to be a Kirby Classic Omega that is in excellent running condition and looks great. I love it and have been using it for years, but it is recently going through an identity crises! I...

The Kirby Omega was made from 1973 to 1976.
The classic III 1976 to 1979
When in for repair the case (motor cover) from a Classic could be put on the Omega. This happens in repair shops if the teck. has two apart at the same time and was not paying attention.
Omega brown tells the true story. That is (Maybe) as all that could be changed as well. A lot of parts will interchange with one another.

you should have a velcro bag holder slide the bag opening onto the velcro bag housing after it is folded down then with the bag in place swivle the bag housing to the velcro and it should snug up to the inlet tube where all of the debris is vacuumed into , let me know if this helps?? thanks The Vacuum Doctor Don Alb,NM

I have the dc 17 animal model and there are no instructions in how to use the attachments, how they connect and so on.I have to assume that this is not an uncommon question considering that the box was...

You can call the Dyson helpline for information on how to fit the attachments. Generally, you can fit them on the wand and the hose (wand - directly on top of the red piece of plastic, hose - take the wand off the back of the vac and press the red button where the hose connects to the wand - this will remove the wand and you can attach the tools to the hose). With a DC17 Animal you probably have a Mini Turbine Head (a tool with its own brushbar - greay with red bristles) - if you have a gray button on it this is probably making you ask how it attaches to your vac - this tool is actually compatible with many other Dyson models but in your case it just fits on top of the hose and/or wand - it doesn't click into anything. As long as the fit is tight/snug, you're good.

If this is a Hoover Steam vac, the turbine which drives the brushes is bad. If not a Hoover, then what is it, they are different, need brand and model number.

DIRT DEVIL MODEL 08245
BRUSE HAS NO TORQUE, HOW DO I OPEN UNIT TO GET TO TURBO UNIT

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure.
Most of the turbo units are a snap together or they have hidden screws to un-screw to open the top and the bottom of the turbo unit, please check with you owner’s manual under trouble shooting and they will instruct you on how to dis-assemble the unit, and also please check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
