Question about Sony BRAVIA KDL-32S2000 32 in. LCD HDTV
The top 1/3 of the screen has a dark band across the top and the whole tv screen pulses. we really noticed the dark band when it was suppose to be blue sky but looked gray. The pulsing is constant as well as the dark band. Has anyone else had this problem? We've had our tv for 15 months. tnx
On the KDFE55A20 this sounds like a bad Q-Box. I would get an estimate from a Sony authorized servicer as this part may be quite expensive. On the 55A10 model this may be the B-Block and is also quite expensive. Getting an on-sit estimate would be the first step I suggest. Again go with an authorized Sony servicer. Call Sony or go to Sony.com for customer service. Good Luck

It is very likely that there are electrolytic capacitors going high in ESR on the processor and driver boards, and also in the power supply areas. The tech should be able to see this by monitoring supply distributions with a scope.
Depending on the complexity of changing the caps on the boards (if it is actualy a cap problem), the best choice may be board replacements.
In almost all the cases where I had this type of fault, it was a number of capacitors that had to be replaced.
