Front panel wire installation guide

I received a G33T-SM3 motherboard and am trying to complete the installation. I need help with how to install the front panel wires. Does anyone know where I can find a schematic of what wires to connect where? It has been so long since I have done this I have forgotten most of what I knew. Thanks.

    This is for a G33t-SM3 motherboard. Not sure why it keeps coming up as a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro2 Motherboard but it is a G33T-SM3 motherboard. Not sure who makes it, but that is the only identification I can find on it at this time.

    Sounds like a Supermicro part #, If you can take a picture that would be great!

    It was a Supermicro. The model is the C2SBA+II and I was able to find the online manual and set up the connections as shown in the manual. It doesn't power up when I press the power button. I got this motherboard off of craigslist, how do I know if it is a motherboard issue or a power button/case issue?

    Do you happen to have a volt meter? you can check the wires that go to the power button and see if its not working...if you need further assistance, i'll be glad to help:)

    I usually, when building/testing scrap systems, just grab a 3mm straightblade and short the 2 switch pins. If it still doesn't turn on, unplug the 20 pin connector, and short the green wire to ground (make sure you're insulated from any metal or wires) while the PSU is plugged into a load, and see if it kicks on.

Hi Angela,
Most of the connections are pretty standard for MB's.
This should help you.
Thanks and don't forget to rate:)

    Thanks Gary. That helps some but still doesn't solve my problem. I will have to try to take some pictures and upload them to show you what I mean. I appreciate the prompt assistance though!

How to connect the power led,power sw,hdd led on e-machine t2240

Apologizes your question hasn't received a solution until now. I have been 'away from my desk' for a while.

The eMachines T2240 desktop pc uses an Intel D845GVSR motherboard.
So let's go to Intel Support for more information, and to the specific product download page for the Intel D845GVSR motherboard,

Intel Desktop Board D845GVSR Product Guides

On this page left-click right on the blue title -
Intel Desktop Board D845GVSR Product Guide (PDF)

This is a PDF file. The computer you are using has Adobe Reader on it which uses PDF files.
After you have downloaded the PDF file go to the top left and hover your mouse cursor on the rectangular icon. (To the left of the Up/Down arrows and Page: )

Hovering your mouse cursor over this icon will briefly reveal -
Toggle Sidebar. Click on this icon.
Now click on the icon to the immediate right of it. (Show Document Outline)

Scroll the Show Document Outline sidebar down until you see the heading - Connecting Internal Headers -
Now click on the heading immediately underneath it -
Connecting the- Front Panel Header -

[The front of your computer is the Front Panel. The area of connecting pins on the motherboard for the Front Panel is the Front Panel Header ]

On Page 11 in the Product Guide we see that S designates the Front Panel Header.
On Page 31 in the Product Guide it shows the Front Panel Header pinout. (The Front Panel Header is designated by C in the illustration)
Again on Page 32, it shows where the Front Panel cables connect to.

In case you are not able to view the Product Guide;

Viewing the motherboard installed in the computer case, the Front Panel Header lays parallel to the bottom of the motherboard, at the Bottom Right.

It is rectangular in shape and has 9 pins.
4 pins along the Top, and 5 pins along the Bottom.

The pins are numbered Even along the Top row;
Starting from the Left side of the Front Panel Header going to the right;
Pins 2, 4, 6,and 8. There is NO Pin 10.

The pins are numbered Odd along the Bottom row;
Starting from the Left going to the right;
Pins 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9.

A) Pins 1 and 3 are for the Harddrive Activity LED.
Pin 1 is for the Positive ( + ) wire. Pin 3 for the Ground wire.
In case the HDD LED is dim when the HarDDrive is active, switch the wires around. (Computer off and Anti-Static Precautions used)

B) Pins 5 and 7 are for the Reset switch, IF a Reset switch is used.
Pin 5 is for the Ground wire.

C) Pin 9 is for 5 volt ( + ) power. Not Used.
(Usually the motherboard manufacturer uses this pin to test the motherboard)

D) Pins 2 and 4 are for the Power On LED.
-> Believe Pin 2 is for the Positive ( + ) wire.
If PWR LED is dim when computer is on, switch the wires around.

E) Pins 6 and 8 are for the Power On switch.

There is No Pin 10.

I need a wiring manual for a g31t-lm2 motherboard...

Hello here is the drivers site:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?

Here is the user guide:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/default.page?selector=expand

The front panel connector ( F panel) looks like this:

1_29_2013_12_24_07_am.jpg

This is located in the down right corner.

The usb connectors look like this:

1_29_2013_12_40_25_am.jpg

In your another case, there should be connectors for front usb and audio, what it goes for should be printed in on the connector.
Basicly this can not be connected wrong.

Good luck

I NEED DRAWING FOR THE FRONT PANEL CONNECTION

Download the manual for you're MSI PM8M-V motherboard from MSI; http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=searchresult&keywords=PM8M-V&table=download
You will need to download and install Adobe reader to view the manual. Download Adobe; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
Open manual to page 9. See Front Panel Connectors: JFP1 & JFP2. There is no need to connect JFP2's Power LED jumper, this is completed at JFP1. Each wire jumper coming from the case will have one wire color in common with all connectors except the speaker jumper. That common colored wire will be use as negative.
The speaker wire commonly as red is positive and black is negative.

Cheers'

Installing the adaptor only will not work. Your computer should have the 4 pin plug for the power to the IDE drive, other wise you will have to buy another adaptor.
