If the heat is excessive and/or shutting down because of heat issues, your fans and heatsinks might be dusty enough that they can\'t get the heat away fast enough. At the least, you should remove (or have removed at the repair shop if you cannot disassemble the laptop properly and/or completely) the cpu and/or gpu fans and heatsinks and clean them out with a can of compressed air. When they are removed, you should replace the cpu and gpu heatsink paste (non-conductive thermal compound) so that they can efficiently dissapate the heat they produce to the heatsinks. Also check your cooling fans for free spinning. Give the fan a clean, then try giving it a spin with your finger, it should continue to spin for a second or 2, the longer the better. If it stops spinning immediately, the fan might have to be replaced too.
If it runs, but gets hot ....
The following advice should be given to all laptop owners : the little rubber feet are important and should be replaced with something at least twice as high. Put your laptop on a flat surface, like a table, and look under the laptop. The little rubber feet give it airspace under the laptop, where most (but not all) laptops have the fresh air intake for the fans. If you cant see through under it, it wont get the cooler airflow it needs. A laptop cooler works best, but if you dont have a laptop cooler, you can use 4 plastic bottle caps (or similar) under the 4 corners to keep it up higher. And dont ever run the laptop sitting on a couch, chair, blanket, lap !! or any non flat hard surface, because the little feet wont keep it up high enough and the fan(s) will suck dust, lint, hair ... into the fans and plug up the heatsink(s)

My HP Pavilion dv6 WW146AV runs hot!

In order to address this the unit must be taken apart, remove fan and clean with compressed air, next remove the heat sink, four spring loaded screws turn one "small amount" go diaganal do the same and the next two until removed from the processor ic, blow out any dirt, next remove old silicon grease with rubbing alcohol, apply fresh thermal grease to the ic and heat sink "small amount" and assemble. This will solve most issues.

My power lights turn on for a few seconds and the computer sounds like it is going to start but then everything shuts off and the computer won't start.

This could be a sign that your laptop is overheating. If you touch the laptop while it is running & you find it too hot, make sure that the fan is running properly & that the air ways are not blocked.
You can blow compressed air into the cooling vents of the fan. If you notice clouds of dust coming out, then it might be a good idea to disassemble the laptop, clean the fan & air ways, & reassemble it back. If the fan has failed & is no longer running, it might need to be replaced.

If none of this solves the problem, or is not the case, then you might have a bad motherboard.

Overheats and freezes

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air.
Give the computer a "blow-job", because dust inside the computer is working as a layer of insulation, i.e., not allowing your computer's fans to cool itself.

My laptop 5630 wont go past the start up page where i can go into the setup were if i press the setup it freezes on please wait..

i think until further elaborativeness is included in the issue, i would say not athoritatively though.. ur computer has power handling issues... this cud be a software problem or a hardware problem
a software problem can be solved by reinstalling the bios or restoring the bios to the original form
a hardware problem can be solved only by replacing one of the many voltage controller chips wid hot air soldering sets...
either ways wat i would suggest is try the software solution and if still doesnt work... scrap the computer... sell it on ebay if u can and buy one from best buy during the last week of the month close to a holiday season...

My laptop wont start. it tries, goes dead, powers

1. Remove the battery
2. Use only the power supply.
3. After the computer starts, put battery back in.
Power supply can't handle low battery & computer start up at the same time.

Aspire 4520.... i want to ask whether i will get all the drivers along with the recovery cds? And i am having problem with my laptop. It is getting hot very soon. Is it possible to solve that problem? Do i...

Yes it is possible to solve it. When your laptop is very very hot, then you better check to a Computer Technician to see any trouble such electric ground signal, fan failure of motherboard short circuit.
And you say about the battery it don't matter also because battery give only power supply in accurate rate at the time your Laptop is working until now.
It cost maybe minimum charge on the Computer Technician favor.

W34oua gateway system restore download

You need to solve the overheating problem first. Shut down the computer, unplug it and remove the bottom cover. Clean the dust and lint. Blow compressed air from a compressed air can. Re-install the cover and restart your computer. If you own a laptop, the fan should be running ALL THE TIME, sometimes slow, sometimes fast buta always running. Check the the fan is blowing air. If it is not, you'll need to replace it before doing anything else.

a few possible problems:

1. Bad power connector
Check the cables and your battery.

2. Virus
If you dont have antivirus I suggest you get download the home version.

3. Overheating
Does the laptop get VERY hot fast? monitor the temperatures.

If you are unable to solve the problem, id recommend to take it to a professional, it would be easyer for you and me.

Id recommend turning off automatic restart on failure.
Heres how to turn that off:

when windows is starting before the logo comes up, press f8 untill a menu shows up and select disable automatic restart.

if you do that you might start seeing some blue screens when your computer shutdown instead of just shuting down, these screens can be used to solve the problem if you get such a screen, type up the all the codes. Example 0x00000f1 (0x000000...)
