Question about Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 USN Lens
I have a Canon T3i and in need of an ultra wide angle lens (10-22mm). I checked the entire planet and the cheapest price I found was $459.00 for a used lens. Is there any less expensive lens out there or is there any tricks that I can use that will give me the same result that the 10-22mm Canon does?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

There are moving contacts inside the lens which communicate focal length data back to the body via a voltage level, and they have either become worn or dirty.
Either way, when you set the lens to 35mm or less the voltage which passes the information drops out and the camera signals the error 99 to inform you that the lens has stopped talking to the camera.
This is not a user fixable item. The lens must either be repaired or replaced and the problem will get worse if left unrepaired. Contact an official Canon Service centre in your country, you'll find that there is usually a fixed cost repair menu, and often if the fault is a known issue the repair might be free even if the lens warranty has expired.
