We purchased a Kenmore Window Type Room Air Conditioner Model 23.70062 about three weeks ago. Tonight, as I was sitting next to it at my computer, I smelled a funny odor which seemed to come from the air...

Well, if you are concerned about the refrigerant leaking, you don't have to be,it's nontoxic- I wouldn't recommend breathing it and it could make you dizzy but not bad in any long term way. if you can handle turning it back on and it still cools, then you probably haven't lost any charge. I would check the filter next-maybe it got contaminated somewhere, or maybe there was some wire insulation getting hot. I wouldn't attempt repair- The store should exchange it for you

I suffer from a build up of steam in my bathroom, I have an extractor fan and was wondering if fitting a humidistat may help.

If the build up only occurs when the shower is operating, it wouldn't be worth the money, time and effort. Check the fan, by removing the cover. It may need a good cleaning. As they do collect dust, lint and hair when they are in operation. Also, running it properly, may solve the problem. The fan should be ON prior to starting the shower and remain on at least 15 minutes (some manufacturer's recommend 30 minutes) after the shower is completed. If you bathroom has a window, opening that at least 1/2", allows the fan to pull in fresh air to help eliminate the humidity. Of course, in the dead of Winter, you don't want to open the window. As the cold air will turn the humidity/steam into water droplets.

Hope this helped you. Please let me know. Thanks.

1998 Nissan Maxima studdering at idle and up hills between 1 & 2 RPMs. Mass air flow sensor? Also hear a hissing maybe a vaccum leak?

That vacuum leak would be causing your studder. The air flow sensor would be able to read the air coming in from a leak and wouldn't add the right amount of fuel. It would lean out, meaning it would have too little fuel for the given amount of air and just wouldn't have the power it needs. I find vacuum leaks by pinching vacuum lines until the hiss goes away and then follow that line to where it leaks. Vacuum line is cheap, less than a buck a foot, so this fix would be cheap and easy to do.
