Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
New users get to try the service completely Free afterwhich it costs $6 per call and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

I turn on the power, the power light comes on and the hard drive light for about 3 seconds than off...and i never get a screen. what could be the problem

First Remove all power (adapter power Cord and Battery (for laptops))
Hold down the ON button for 30secs (dispersing internal voltage)
Plug the power cord in only (ie leave battery out, for the moment)
Turn on
If it worked replace battery.

If it doesnt

Start your computer and press down on the "F8" key to get into the "Advanced Boot Options" menu.

Click the "Repair your computer" option on the menu and press the "Enter" key.

Select your keyboard layout from the choices given.

Click the "Next" button to enter the "System Recovery Options" menu.

Choose "Startup Repair" from the menu and press the "Enter" key to start the repair on your startup disk.

I want my serial number. But it is no where to be found on the system. I have checked the buttom and it is not located there.

It will be in your BIOS. When the laptop is booting you will be given the option to press F2 or F10 or whichever is shown on the boot screen to enter setup or BIOS. Inside there you will find the serial number and model details. Along with the settings for your system and some additional specifications. Cheers, Ravi Shanghavi

My laptop powers up but now it will frequently

This folder means your Mac can't find a "Startup Disk'. Try holding down the "option" key at startup.
If you see a drive, select it and click the arrow.
If you have an iBook or Powerbook try holding down the "X" key at startup.
If neither of these options work you may need to repair the disk. To do this do the following.
Turn on your mac, immediately after the tone press and hold the command + S keys until the computer shows a black screen with white text.

Once this is finished loading you'll be at a "command line"

Type the following exactly as shown, including spaces.

/sbin/fsck -fy

Now press the return key.

If any repairs were made, repeat entering the command and press return.

Do this until no repairs are made.

Now type the following exactly as shown.

And press return.

If your computer reboots and makes it to the login screen then congratulations. If not you can try this as well.

Start up your mac and BEFORE the grey screen appears press and hold the following keys at the same time.

command + option + p + r

hold these keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time, then let go of the keys.

Other than that you may need to take it to someone to be repaired. hope this helps.

Ok on my macbook pro it seems to have locked up i see the task bar but the icons or nothing else will show up any soulution?i tried apple option esc but nothing showed up. it seems to lock up where i can...

This can be hardware or software related...
If you can see the dock, it means that the system started up with success, but had a hard time to get your account running.
You should try these:
- Press the shift key at startup for 15 seconds at the startup chime). this will check your hard drive, and deactivate extensions. it will ask for your password.
- If you see your desktop, and the apple, then go to the apple menu - system preferences - accounts -startup items tab. Delete all the startup items
- If it did nothing, the you should try to boot from your OS DVD pressing the c key at startup, abd repair the disk's permissions here
- At last, reinstall your system, choosing the "archive and install" option when requested
Hope this helps

Laptop doesnt boot only power ligth comes out when press on buttom a ligth comes out but nothing on the screen i dont hear the fan keep going.

Maybe there are some problem in your start button (the button wire connect to mainboard is Loosening.

Please press the start button for about 3-4 seconds then see it would start. Always it may solve the problem, this happend to my inspiron 6400 too, after used for years the start button failure. It shows only power lamp lights green but the other light cant light red.

If no, maybe your must change a power supply, as the lower volt current cant start all the device.

Powers up but black screen shows

1st - Try pressing <Fn> + <BrithnessUP> keys a few times, (on HP <Fn> key is between <Ctrl> key and <Windows> key, <BrightnessUP> key is <F8> key and <BrightnessDown> key is <F7> key. If nothing happens try the 2nd one.
2nd - Plugin external monitor, (type and size doesn't matter). Turn on your laptop. If you can see desktop on the external monitor, your drivers are o.k., The problem is your laptop display, NOT the graphic chip.
