SOURCE: LG 50px4dr plasma tv turns off immediately after

The problem could come from the power supply at the first suspected one. If you have a knowledge of trouble shooting, open the cover then examine if any caps there look poping up. Use your finger touch on the top of caps you will feel it. If not, check all the fuses there then disconnect all the cables from power sup to other boards, except the main board. Check Va and Vs according to the label attached on the back of panel. If the power sup shut down, replace it with a new one. Hope it helps.

Its very likely that you need to have LG perform a sodtware upgrade on your unit. Contact LG and see if your tv is one of the applicable units with software upgrade issues, please let me know if it works. Good Luck.

SOURCE: My 50" LG plasma turns

The pop you heard was a capacitor failing on either the y-sustain (Y-SUS) or z-sustain (Z-SUS) board. It's hard to tell for sure which board... but if you feel comfortable, you can remove the back of the set and take a look. They should be labeled... but typically the Y-SUS is on the far left (when looking from the rear) and is larger than the Z-SUS which is on the right.

If you understand and accept the risk of working with TV voltages... you can also turn the set on for 5-10 minutes, then touch the heatsinks on each of the boards. If the heatsink doesn't warm up after this time, that board has failed and will need to be replaced. You can put the boards in yourself... or take my recommendation and hire a qualified technician to do this work.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Hello My 60PK550 TV started to turn itself of every 5-10 minutes, I switched it of at the power point and waited, now when it is plugged in and turned on at the power point it immediately tries to turn...

check first the psu unplugging the Y-sus from it if the voltages stay on then you have a Y-sus failure if the psu keeps closing then its most likely the psu itself or your main board

I have the LG Plasma model 50PA550. the TV turns on for a few seconds, then turns off by its self. The more I continue to turn on the TV the quicker it turns back off (until it just doesnt click on anymore...

If you're an electronics DIY...I had the same problem, TV turns on then immediately turns off. Fixed it with an 89 cent capacitor. TV is an LG 50PA5500, two and a half years old. Suddenly stopped working...would switch it on and it would immediately turn off. Sometimes if I left it unplugged for a while and plugged it back in, then it would click at intervals of 1 & 5 seconds repeatedly.

Inspection of the main power board showed C802, a black rectangular film capacitor at the top of the board between the transformer and heatsksink was bulging at the sides. Found the part, 0.022uF 1.25KVDC, on DigiKey (p/n 495-1360-ND) for $0.89 + ~$3 shipping (much cheaper & more reliable than eBay!). Replaced, TV working like new again.

This is Important ? Can a Plasma screen go BAD,no cracks, nothing

BAD is a very vague description but certainly a plasma screen can produce a poorer picture with age, such things as "sparkly" patches on the screen or a lack of sharpness from the picture. Of course there is also the potential for the screen to have an image burn.

I have the LG 60PK550 model tv and i have a lot of buzzing noise coming from the set and wondered if this is common in plasma tv's of this size due to the amount of power they consume ?

No,the power supply board have problems. Those power supply transformers on the power supply board, causing this, high voltage flow going through those transformers.Tries websites like, to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
