The problem could come from the power supply at the first suspected one. If you have a knowledge of trouble shooting, open the cover then examine if any caps there look poping up. Use your finger touch on the top of caps you will feel it. If not, check all the fuses there then disconnect all the cables from power sup to other boards, except the main board. Check Va and Vs according to the label attached on the back of panel. If the power sup shut down, replace it with a new one. Hope it helps.

Its very likely that you need to have LG perform a sodtware upgrade on your unit. Contact LG and see if your tv is one of the applicable units with software upgrade issues, please let me know if it works. Good Luck.

The pop you heard was a capacitor failing on either the y-sustain (Y-SUS) or z-sustain (Z-SUS) board. It's hard to tell for sure which board... but if you feel comfortable, you can remove the back of the set and take a look. They should be labeled... but typically the Y-SUS is on the far left (when looking from the rear) and is larger than the Z-SUS which is on the right.
If you understand and accept the risk of working with TV voltages... you can also turn the set on for 5-10 minutes, then touch the heatsinks on each of the boards. If the heatsink doesn't warm up after this time, that board has failed and will need to be replaced. You can put the boards in yourself... or take my recommendation and hire a qualified technician to do this work.
Let me know,if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
